My 2-year-old wakes up screaming???
Once or twice a week our 2-year-old wakes up in the middle of the night screaming his head off, and it takes about an hour to console him. He doesn't seem to be in pain, no fever or symptems the next day or anything, and when we ask him if he remembers he says no. What should we do?

he is having what is called night terrors. They can be very common with kids his age who are growing etc. It can be very upsetting seeing your baby so upset - mine experienced too...the best thing to do is not wake him up, just rub his back and try to get him to lay back down. Generally they will fall back to sleep in a short time "sometimes". Usually, under normal circumstances these night terrors are just a phase. if you notice that they continue for the next year or you also notice him getting up a lot throughout the night. he may have a sleep disorder - more common than you might realize. But dont jump ahead, he probably doesnt! My son ended up having one = we put him through a pediatric sleep study etc . Just a heads up if you dont see him working through this on his own.
hope this helps

My son did this a few times. Not nearly as often, though. I might try letting him sleep with you a while. Kids have bad dreams even that young. Sit with him with the lights on, maybe his fave. cartoon until he falls asleep from the comfort.
