Yes, they are. I own a Taurus PT22 pistol and use it sometimes for conceal carry. I have shot several hundred rounds with it and never had a problem. They have a tip-up barrel design which enables use to hand load the first bullet into the chamber. This pretty much ensures the 1st round will definitely go off. They key with the PT22 and Bobcat is to use High Velocity .22LR ammo. The other stuff can cause jams. As long as you stick with the high velocity bullets the gun will perform well for you. I'd say go for it. It is worth the money.

I've got an older Beretta Minx in .22short. It is simular to the Bobcat altho it is single action only which makes it a little bit smaller. It has the tip-up barrel like the Bobcat. It is hard for me to shoot accuratly as the sights are hard to see. It dose go bang every time though. Even though it is reliable I wouldn't pick it as my no. 1 choice as a deffensive weapon. That .22short is just too light and out of these short barrles the long rifle isn't much better. It is fun though.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Bobcat. If the price isn't too different so that you wouldn't have to drive the 50 miles, I'd get the Beretta.

I own a Beretta Mod. 21A . I've had it for about 5 years now. Most of that time it has spent in my pocket. You need to "Stiff-wrist" that gun for reliable feeding, that's not a problem with the light recoil.
It's a great gun for close up shooting. Very easy to use, very easy to care for. The sights are a little fine for my taste, but my eyes are going bad on me.
I highly recommend the gun, I've never been sorry I spent that money.

Price is way too high for a .22LR pocket gun. The Taurus PT-22 is one to stay away from Many do not work out of the box, and if you send it back to the factory, like my brothet did, it will be 4 months before you see it again.

Beretta is good, but a Taurus is even better at that caliber.
Don't get me wrong both are from good manufacturers. I just like Taurus, it's cheaper than Beretta/s.
I own two Taurus semiautos.
