Rumor or fact: Pontiac has an El Camino type vehicle for 2010?

I heard that Pontiac has announced a new model to be named at a later date, but for now refered to as a G8. Based on a Holden Ute it will resemble a Chevrolet El Camino. Has anyone else heard this? can it be confirmed?

"Based on the first-ever G8 performance sedan, the Pontiac G8 sport truck is a revolutionary design with a bold new attitude.

The G8 sport truck is power: 6.0L engine. 361hp. Able to haul more than a 1,300-pound payload** and tow a 3,500-pound trailer***. And when it's not towing anything, it does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. No other vehicle combines power and torque like this vehicle.

But power isn't the only the thing the G8 sport truck is about — it also boasts of a design with attention to detail. From its one-piece outer body panel to wraparound tail lamps to fully concealed tailgate hinges, all crafted to make the vehicle for you. Available late 2009."

GM says fact. Why isn't it a Chevy though?

They are very popular over there and its built on the Zeta platform with the Pontiac G8, Chevy Camaro, and some Buicks, and probably a Chevy Impala. They could easily (and cheaply) bring it over here since it was built to pass all US laws.

Ford also sells a similar product over there but its not on a platform that was built to pass US laws.

Sorry to crush everyones dreams but the chances are slim to none this will ever make it to the U.S. This car (uhhh truck) is strictly slated for the Australian market. Car trends in the U.S. don't tend not to favor cross over utility vehicles. What happened to the Dodge Magnum and the Subaru Brat?

I have seen it on tv. I am not sure it is going to go into production but that may be what the link above points to. It is a pretty cool vehicle.
