just because something is in your contract doesn't mean you always get it i know some people who have things in the contract but its not going to happen, i think the recruiters might make it seem really better than what it is, my husband is in the army and so far he is getting what its in contract the only thing is that sometimes he does stuff that not even his job and doesnt matter if your a girl or your job is radiology i would bet your going to iraq

Most recruiters do not lie. They do tend to walk a thin line, so to speak. They will tell you what you want to hear, but to actually say they lie is far from the truth. If you have any questions regarding the army or recruiting, ask them here. There are plenty of honest recruiters and soldiers here to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

If it's in your final contract that you sign on ship day, then it's what you get. Make sure you read that on rather than fly through the hundred pages you'll be signing. They really don't try to screw you on those things, just that stuff gets lost & can't be fixed after the fact.
Now, are you going active duty? i don't want to dissuade you from that if it's what you want, but we got radiology specialists in the guard & reserves as well for the same bonus. That comes with 100% tuition assistance & time to use it. Your family might be more comfortable if you're going that route & going on to college versus just straight active duty. It's something to consider. If you really want to go active, you still need to check out the guard active first program for a massively higher bonus than an active duty recruiter can offer you.
msg me & i'll try to help you out - i'm not a recruiter just in case you're curious.

If it specifies in your contract that is the mos u get then thats where you go....as for deploying everyone deploys usually....even radiology techs. Whether your a girl or not. We are at war and soldiers do need to have x-rays in Iraq.

Nope, recruiters generally do not lie.
The biggest problem with the recruitment process is,
People just do not listen very well.
The recruiter might say something is possible, and people think that that means it will happen.
IE: it is possible to get the base of your choice, but that doesn't mean you will and most likely will not.
Since most people, ask for a duty station that they could never get, because thier job, isn't at that base.

yes i was in the army 1999-2007
i first joined the national guard .
"the forced me" to join the active duty ,
they said they were short handed and i would be able to switch back to the national guard after one year "they lied"
i joined the national guard to work with computers --the recruter told me--ok this job is what you want "13 fox"
later i find out the life expectancy of a 13 fox is less then 20 seconds in the time of war.. now who wants this..i did not.. but they did not tell me this till it was to late.
the recruiters lied to me and said i can change my m.o.s. any time i wanted but it will take 3 months for the paper work
so i said ok and hear i am nearly 8 years later still in the same m.o.s.
so i finished my contract and got out.
now another thing MY BONUS ...lol i never got it don't know why not but i never did. the only good thing about joining the army was the respect and the self pride.
i did it anyone can!!
so yes your parents are right the recrutier will lie and scam to get you in , they'll get personal with you /pretend to be your friend , but after you sign they forget who you are .
now this is just my expierience with the army i'm sure there are good stories out there ,
but if you want my advice LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS
there right.
LOL... talking about this brings back some memmories
you would figure i would of known better-- when i was first joining and talking to the recruiter and i got there and ALL his windows were busted out on his car , i said what happened and he said nothing just some punks .....but now i know--
i tell you i wish i knew back then..
if your 100% joining the army ---GO TO COLLEGE FIRST !!
take the rotc class and when you graduate you will be a officer instead of a private.. this way you start out on top
ask around i'm sure times have changed ---go to a college of your choice ask about rotc and becoming a officer "BUT DON'T ASK THE RECRUITER---HE WANTS YOU NOW"
ask how it works if you have to join first or can you take the class first..
i did get to travel the world , i'm in good shape , made some money , BUT messure your options first.

If a recruiter lies to you please ask to speak to his or her supervisor and report it. No recruiter is supposed to lie about anything. They should be so far above that just because they are Non-Commissioned Officers. I quit a job a few years ago because the owner of the company questioned my integrity. NCO's should never be telling lies to anyone for any reason.

If you have a contract then it's legal and binding.
I remember in boot camp they asked us how many got promised something by their recruiter and several guys raised their hands. They then told them to forget any promises that were given to them.

yes, sometimes recruiters are not as honest as they need to be. before you join get everything in writing! your contract will be honored. and good luck going into the Army. :). don't worry about your family, they will come around.

Anytime you join the military, you serve at the pleasure of the military.
There are no guarantees at all. The purpose of the military is to "protect and defend"...that's what you will do.
They can and will send you anywhere, anytime to stay as long as they say you must.
You are not entering college, bub. You are entering the military, who's sole purpose is to learn how to shoot and practice war. Nobody cares about your personal wishes....and no contract will override your first priority...a soldier...ready to go to war.
