Did Obama say he condems his pastor, but agrees with him all at the same time?

This the the time old saying that if you add "god bless your heart to the end of any sentence it makes it alright." "That is the ugliest baby I've ever seen, god bless your heart." That is how I felt about Obama's preconceived speech today. It was like he was saying, "I did not know anything about what he was saying, but I kinda agree." On one hand he said it was inappropriate (notice how he didn't call it racist) and on the other he was making excuses as if it were OK. He at one point tried to blame the founding fathers for owning slaves. What does that have to do with anything? He talked about the black value system. If it were a white value system would it be OK. I do not know how you apologize (not directly) and at the same time try to say how you could see he could be agree about. Nothing. You can't hate all white for something a white or some whites did, presently, currently, in history, in the past etc etc . That's racism. Obama's lack of a direct apology is a joke.

Ya last week he said he had not heard but small snippets of these sermons from the Rev Wright and wasnt aware of his racist beliefs. Today he admitted he not only heard them but lied and said he didnt agree with him one bit! What a politician and out right liar Obama is!

He did NOT say he agreed with him. He said he understood why people said these things, just like he understood why some southern states still want to fly the confederate flag. It is long past time for the US to get over this racial stuff. And Obama is the first one to come along with the balls to get it done.

why I respond to posts like this... when I know words couldn't possibly change your minds or else you'd know better...

did you watch the speech, first of all? he didn't agree with the inflammatory rhetoric of his pastor. He flatly disagreed, but tried to explain his pastor's statements as reflective of the sentiments that still exist between the black and white communities, the tensions, of people who lived through the segregation/civil rights era. He called his pastor's statements "not constructive". He said the crucial error in those statements was viewing the issue of race as static, as not having changed since the days of martin luther king... while pointing to himself as an example of how things have improved, but aren't yet perfect..

AGAIN, in no way did obama say he agreed with those comments. But he said he understood them within the context of the tensions that still exist among the communities as a result of pastors of that age having lived through segregation and witnessing discrimination.
