American Idol -- verstility anyone?

I find that a few of the contestants have not shown much versatility yet, including a favorite or two of my own. I know they are all torn between being "themselves" and showing a they can perform over a good range. Also,so far, the song cateogories have been somewhat limiting. It leaves us wondering who can deal with todays' sound.

So far, it seems like Chikezie and Carly are the only ones who have succeeded in rocking and balladeering. I am wanting to hear the rest of them change it up. (I don't think Brooke can do it, and Kristy really, please go home.)

    you forgot david cook. he normally tends to go for rockier songs, but his rendition of hello was stellar!

    You are right. I think that's why Amanda got sent home tonight. Everything she did she did in the rocker style. She even indicated on Tues. that that was the only kind of music. She probably was joking a bit. But I thought it would be Kristie who went home tonight. (The one who did the Beatles hoedown last week)

    David Archuleta has versatility too! And sorry, but I think Brooke has versatility, too. I understand that this second Beatles week was rough for her, but I don't think you can count her out now.

    i somewhat agree.....and i think this very issue is what lead to amanda leaving tonight...she's great at what she does....i appreciate her talent that way...but she was becoming a one trick pony and just not showcasing that she could do anything other than what she was doing and i guarantee that would've been a really big problem in the next few weeks.....i love carly though..and hope she wins......

    yeah....i really wish they would just do a PICK WHATEVER SONG YOU WANT night. like that would be so good. i think amanda was the one with the least versatility. and she left so thats good but i dont think you really have to have a whole lot of versatility to win...and i really like brooke i dont want her to go

    Versatility isn't as big of a deal for this show. It is for So you think you Can dance, however.

    I would have to say that Carly is my fave. There is just something about her voice that makes me smile.

    Everyone is forgetting David Archuletta he is incredible his voice is so amazing it bring tears to my eyes!
