Good Places to Live in Cincinnati?

I will be moving to Cincinnati with my husband sometime this summer. I would like to do some research before the move, so I would like some opinions on good, affordable neighborhoods for young families. He will be working either at UC or at the Children's Hospital so neighborhoods near these facilities would be best (although if you want to recommend good places to live in Northern KY that aren't too far that is also great).

Thank you!

You didn't mention whether you have children or not, that may make a big difference if you do and they are schoolo age. Hyde Park, Mt Lookout and Oakley are all close (10-15 min)but a little pricey. Oakley being the cheapest of the three. The Gas Light Distrcit in Clifton is very nice and very close to the hospitals, but is really pricey. A lot ofthe docs live there. I should say established docs, it takes a while like any otehr career! However, it may be worth looking into to see if something fits your price range.

I live in NKY(Independence) and it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get to the city each morning using Rt 17. The beauty of it is I don't have to get on an expressway and rearely have traffic. Taylor Mill is close by and would be about the same commute. Ft. Wright is even cloer to the city as is Ft. Thomas (5 minutes on 471). All of the NKY neighborhoods are nice and are probably more affordable then the Hyde Park neighborhoods. The downside to KY is the vehicle registration tax (goes by value of car) is a lot higher then Ohio, but you do get to claim that as a tax credit on your state taxes. Housing proces are cheaper in NKY, you can def. can get more house for your money if you are looing to buy and taxes are a little cheaper as well.

I would research all of the surrounding neighborhoods very well before you choose and decide on them based upon your family's needs. Good luck and welcome!!

    Places To Live In Cincinnati

Good neighborhoods for young families without children include Hyde Park and Oakley. But if you have children, moving up north towards Montgomery, Blue Ash, West Chester or Mason would be best. Wyoming also has a really good school district.

As for northern Kentucky, they say Ft. Thomas has a good school system.

The areas that have a better school system are located outside the Cincinnati city limits. However traffic can sometimes be a bit of an issue, especially during bad weather or if there is a major accident. The highways can be bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hour.

Look into Hyde Park or Mt. Lookout. It's only about 10-15 minutes (depending on traffic) from UC. It is not cheap but it is a great area. Tons of people out and about walking and a couple of great parks for the kids.

I'm in the Anderson Township area, which is very family oriented, but a little further east of downtown.

NKY- Taylor Mill is a decent area, but I don't know a lot about it.

Florence is the suburbs of Northern KY and very congested.

Ft. Mitchell in N. KY is a great bedroom neighborhood. It's very easy to jump on I-75 and be in downtown Cinci in 10 mins. Also the Beechwood school district was ranked in US World and News reports as a top school. You'd love it!!!

Oakley is known for it's lens clarity (non-distortion), so to sell a product that would cause distortion wouldn't be very effective.
