  • Yoshitaka Amano Prints?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a poster or print by Yoshitaka Amano? He is one of my favorite artists, but his pieces are impossible to find in America- even on ebay the only things available are the Batman/Superman posters he did for DC and copies of his ad for "The Magic Flute" (which is lovely, but all the posters I've seen have been folded).

At this point I would like a copy of any of his work- from VHD to the Guin Saga to Final Fantasy to The Tale of Genji. I'm dying here!

    Thank you for any tips!

  • Sleeping Positions for Pregnancy?

I am 99 % sure I am pregnant (well, one missed period and two positive tests sure) but wasn't able to schedule a blood test until this Friday. I can't be more than 3-4 weeks along.

I am a light sleeper, and the only way I can really fall asleep is by lying on my stomach. I am concerned whether this might be harmful to the embryo. I have tried sleeping on my side or my back for the past two nights, with dismal results. Now I am worried that my lack of sleep might be worse for the baby than sleeping on my stomach (yes, I know, but this is my first baby so I'm worried about everything).

I intend to ask the doctor about this Friday, but until then, does anyone have any advice that has been through this? Is it OK to sleep on your stomach as long as you can while pregnant? Right now I am tired and my shoulders hurt from trying to sleep on my sides.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Quantum of Solace Horse Race?

Just saw "Quantum of Solace", and I have a question about a set piece from the film.

Early in the movie, a chase scene is juxtaposed with a rather unusual horse race. The race is in an Italian town, there is no racetrack (rather, it takes place in a cobbled street), and the horses are not saddled, but the riders wear silks. There is a crowd taking pictures, etc. Does anyone know if this is an actual event or something that was made up for the movie?

  • Salvation Army Angel Tree Locations?

The Salvation Army website is no help when I'm trying to find the location of the nearest Angel Tree this season! Does anyone know of a website that might list locations, or any Angel Trees in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati?

    Thank you!

  • Tropic Thunder Fake Trailers?

If the fake previews shown before "Tropic Thunder" were for real films, would you see any of them?

While "Scorcher 6" and "The Fatties" wouldn't appeal to me (and there's no way I would drink Booty Sweat!), I have to admit I would really like to see "Satan's Alley". : )

  • Good Places to Live in Cincinnati?

I will be moving to Cincinnati with my husband sometime this summer. I would like to do some research before the move, so I would like some opinions on good, affordable neighborhoods for young families. He will be working either at UC or at the Children's Hospital so neighborhoods near these facilities would be best (although if you want to recommend good places to live in Northern KY that aren't too far that is also great).

    Thank you!

  • Old Song, Possibly Ricky Nelson?

Today for some reason I was thinking of this old song my Dad used to have on a 45. I really liked it when I was a kid but had forgotten it until just now. I have very little information on it so please bear with me!

I think it may have been a Ricky Nelson song (but I'm not sure). It was about a puppet maker whose fondest wish was that his puppets would come to life before his eyes. At the end of the song he gets his wish right before he dies.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

  • Masters of Horror: Pro-Life?

OK, I rented a DVD of "Pro-Life", an episode of the series "Masters of Horror", and unfortunately the DVD did not work well! It froze during the scene where Ron Perlman is torturing the abortion doctor, and no amount of coaxing or tinkering could get it to go further. Could someone who has seen the episode please tell me what happens at the end? Thank you in advance!

  • Gankutsuou/The Count of Monte Cristo?

I am a big fan of Dumas' novel "The Count of Monte Cristo", and I am considering watching Studio Gonzo's series "Gankutsuou", supposedly a retelling of "Monte Cristo" in space. I know the adaptation will (literally) be worlds away from the original, but is it worth watching? And how closely does it adhere to the original story?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Looking for the Title/Author of a Short Horror Story?

The story is set during a tense, unhappy birthday party. The party is for a young boy who apparently has immense powers, and everyone in town is afraid of him and will do anything to keep him happy. During the party an adult gets drunk and says something that displeases him, so the boy makes him disappear! There is a reference to a dark place (or a shallow grave maybe) in a nearby cornfield, and that this is where the boy puts people he doesn't like.

I am 99% sure this story was made into an episode of "The Twilight Zone" or perhaps "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" or another anthology show.

For some reason I remembered this story today and it has been driving me mad that I can't recall the title or author!

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • People Who Touch Your Hair?

I know this is a strange question, but it's a strange situation. I have very long, thick hair. I often get compliments on it. That is no problem. The problem is that some people (my co-workers and even some customers or total strangers!) seem to feel it is OK to say, "Oh, your hair is so pretty." and then grab a handful of it! Occasionally a co-worker or acquaintance will come up behind me and start braiding it without my permission.

How do I handle this? I consider it the same as if they were touching me without my permission, but apparently other people seem to think that hair doesn't count as a body part. I don't want to make a scene, but I really don't like it. Usually I just move far enough away they have to let go or risk pulling my hair. But I hate being so passive!

How can I politely but firmly tell these people to get their hands off my hair?

  • Roger Zelazny's Great Book of Amber?

Which of the 9 princes and 4 princesses were your favorite characters in the Amber series?

Let's face it, none of them are good people, but in the context of where they were raised, they are very good Amberites.

So who is your favorite, or the one you hate the least?

I am a fan of Corwin, of course, and I also ended up liking Fiona quite a bit. The rest I could take or leave, even Random. The only sibling I really disliked was Brand.

  • Pre-1990 Anime?

Any old school fans out there? There is a lot of great anime out there from back in the day, but you rarely see it represented- generally it's not easy to find, and the younger crowd is spoiled by digital animation. Just recently I've become very interested in this older stuff : ) I'm in love with the original 1979 Captain Harlock series, Starblazers, Future Boy Conan, Vampire Hunter D, Macross, Legend of the Galactic Heroes (that one's kind of a crossover since it ran into the 90's).

I'm just curious as to how many people like the old school stuff and what you watch!

  • A Film About Soldier Ants?

I recall seeing this movie some time ago, I believe it was made sometime in the 60's or 70's. It might star Charlton Heston but I'm not sure about that, as I can't find anything in his filmography thst looks similar.

The movie is about a man who has a plantation in South America that is threatened by an army of soldier ants. At one point he floods ditches around the plantation to stop then, but the ants merely take leaves and use them as rafts to float across! I think that at the end he has to torch the plantation to stop them.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Revolutionary Girl Utena DVD Question!?

I am thinking of buying this anime series, but I'm confused as there are so many DVD sets out there! I would like to have the original television series in the correct order if possible (the movies are not as important to me as the original series). What is the correct order of the DVD sets?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Question About the British Legal System?

I am an American who happens to be a big fan of British crime dramas. While I've figured out the English school system and the whole deal with council houses, I now have a question about what sore of evidence can be used in court.

I've been watching a show called "Touching Evil". More than once on this show some cops have broken into a suspect's house while they were away and looked around for evidence, always cleaning up before the suspect returned home. In America, no evidence collected like that would be admissible in court; we require warrants. The cops on this show sometimes have warrants when the suspect is home, but it seems like if they're not home the cops can just barge into their house and have a look around.

Is this right, or am I getting a skewed view due to my lack of understanding about the British legal system?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Soap Opera- "Passions"?

I was folding laundry on my day off with the TV on for background- and I caught a couple seconds of a soap opera called "Passions". I am almost certain I saw two men involved in a sex scene! Is there a gay couple on this show? If so, that is a very cool thing to do on mainstream TV. They finally realized women love gay men!

    Thanks in advance!

  • CC Lemon- Japanese Soda?

While I was in Japan I fell in love with a soft drink called CC Lemon. Unfortunately I can't find it back here in the US! Even the local Japanese stores don't have it and I can't seem to find a place that sells it online. Does anyone have any leads for me?

  • Calico Cats- a Bad Reputation?

Last time I took my cat, a calico, to the vet she was being uncooperative (of course) and as the vet dragged her hissing out her carrier she commented to the asssistant, "Yup, she's a real calico."

I forgot to ask her what she meant. Do calicos in particular have a reputation for being cranky or something?

  • Lacuna Coil/ Within Temptation?

I recently attended a concert featuring 2 European metal bands, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil. The crowd was small but very enthusiastic! It was the first concert Within Temptation had ever given in America and they expressed surprise and delight at the response. I think they underestimated the power of the Internet to spread good music!

Anyway, the question is, how popular are these bands in Europe, particularly their home countries (The Netherlands and Italy)? Are they played on the radio there? Do they play stadiums or small venues? Obviously they are something of a niche market but I am just curious.

    Thanks in advance!
