Why are we at war in Iraq? This week Bush tried to justify it, I wonder why he never mentioned the WMDs?

Update:

Why do the Republicans always blame the Democrats for their mistakes?

The administrations latest excuse for why we are there is to stop a civil war.

Wonder what it will be in a month or so, don't you?

Because the WMDs received scant mention in the Congressional resolution which authorized a military offensive against Iraq. The source below is a link to the text of that law. The reasons are listed therein.

Bill Clinton committed us to eliminating Saddam by force with the 1998 Iraq Liberation Act. Clinton's own shock and awe bombing campaign failed to achieve the stated goal, so Bush had to get the job done.

Democrats count on their constituents to have such short memories that they can now raise questions about why we eliminated Saddam - when it was their own party leadership that committed us to doing so.

Why? As Clinton stated, Saddam had refused for years to abide by the conditions of the temporary cease-fire. Saddam had defied the UN and refused to hand over the banned weapons they knew were in his possession. If Saddam got away with this, he would be showing the world that a disarmament mandate would NOT be enforced by the UN or the US and tyrants all around the world would become very bold.

Clinton's own failure to remove Saddam proved him correct. It was the reason North Korea violated its agreements and got busy making nuclear weapons materials. Same for Libya and Iran. Why? Because Saddam had defeated the US/Clinton and shown that they could get away with it!

Saddam had to be removed. Just like Clinton said.

Also, we have already found enough of the banned WMD and nuclear weapons equipment master copies to say we have caught Saddam red handed.

Do you really think that with the invasion of Iraq pending..that saddam didn't think to move the wmds out of the country????or do you think maybe he should have put them under a GIANT billboard that read....Hey Americans.....here they are.....here they are....!!!!! please stop listening to the democrats whine about this over and over.....they whined for 40 some years about the cold war too......whinging and complaining and bitching.....gosh I'm sick to *(*(*$ of them.....

One more thing.....what if saddam was still in power with the anti-christ iran now arming themselves with nukes.....then what.....have a democrat tea party....put our heads in the sand and wait for the end of the world.....WAKE UP...!!!!!

Enough about the WMD's. I for one still believe that we will some day find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but it won't be in the form of a missile silo or anything of the sort.

And Bush didn't mention it because the public has pushed him enough into saying that there weren't any. He's already admitted it.
