I liked the movie... (and I do historical re-enactments of the Elizabethan times) it was definately pretty to look at (costumes & sets were amazing). Not a movie I'd go to for a history lesson - but a decent glimpse at some of court politics which were prevelant during that era.
That particular time period was *very* interesting - it was shown, but I think it was under-emphasized exactly HOW dramatic a move it was to split from the Roman Catholic church.
I thought they sort of "slapped you upside the head with the stupid stick" the way they spelled it out to the audience how Elizabeth would eventually become Henry's heir.
...but it was a good movie - probably one I'll throw into my collection next to the two "Elizabeth" movies I already own.

I saw it it's a fascinating time period. The movie was good but the book was much better. I'm reading another book by that same author about Elizabeth I, Anne Boleyn's daughter. It is my favorite period of time to learn and read about.

It's a very good movie, worth your money espeically if you're interested in the time period/story, it did well with critics etc. It stars Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Eric Bana. There is some sex, not much nudity, but there is a brief rape scene but there is not nudity in it. I really enjoyed it, Natalie Portman's performance was breathtaking.

The time period is fasinating the film although well shot and acted had some major flaws but as a whole was a competent attempt with a lot of artisic license.

That time period was scary. I would only have associated with Henry VIII if I had an extra head or two! It was such a great movie, wasn't it?

I have not seen it...I am a History buff, (the tru(er) history, not Hollywood's!) Thus, being very acquainted to the History of England, as much as it has not been changed, through the convenience of time, of the men who tell it... I fear I'll be led into fantasy than fact. I dislike fantasy when it leads one astray from tru(er) circumstance, wouldn't you?
It may be quite a movie, but is it worthy for closer-to-Reality's sake?
That to me, IS WHAT REMAINS important, ritAKAREna.'Fantasy you can so readily find in Shreck for example, if your childish mind wonders and wanders, that way.
