Is Bill Clinton 'a modern-day Joe McCarthy' ?

Re Clinton saying of Clinton vs McCain race being between 2 "patriots":

"Retired General Tony McPeak, a former US air force chief of staff and co-chairman of the Obama campaign, hit back, saying: "I grew up, I was going to college, when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I’ve had enough of it. "It’s a use of language as a disguised insult. We’ve seen this before, this little clever spin that’s put on stuff."

Update:

What Bill said: "Discussing the prospect of a presidential election between Mrs Clinton and the Republican candidate, John McCain, the former president told a group of war veterans in North Carolina: "I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country.

"And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

Joe McCarthy started one of the most shameful witchhunts the world has seen and ruined hundreds of lives. Bill Clinton's just a washed-up politician who couldn't keep his pants on.

Clinton was speaking to veterans! What is wrong with those people on the Obama campaign? Sounds like they have a guilty conscience about Obama. Who is McPeak to criticize what anyone says....I think HE is a Joe McCarthy.

This is the most anal thing I have ever heard! Now I know Obama is NOT fit for the Presidency...I thought we had freedom of speech...Obama will be policing what everyone says! Get over it! Bill Clinton is the best President we have ever had!

This is a pathetic attempt by Obama's campaign to score points against Clinton. The comment involved comparing McCain and Hillary- two people who love their country but have very different views on how to lead the country. He wasn't trying to draw a distinction between Hillary and Obama, and a rational person would not take the remarks to imply that Obama is unpatriotic. Of course, the campaign that has portrayed Geraldine Ferraro as a racist may not have a firm grasp on rational discourse.

No! This is just another way for Obama's team to try to get the Rev. Wright's remarks out of the headlines. The bottom line is, Obama lied to the American people and he tried to cover it up by giving a 'race speech'. He shifted the focus___, the main media bought in to it! But the American people know that he thinks like his pastor and all the other racist that surround him. We don't need a racist in the White House! Vote McCain!

No. McCarthy spoke the truth. Bill Clinton doesn't even have the right to define what the definition of "Truth" is.

McCarthy of the McCarthy Era? You've got to be kidding me. That's more Bush. Don't tell me you think the John Lennon was a traitor too.

    No

Bill Clinton is a liar and a cheating husband who got his jollies with Monica Lewinski and who's weekling wife did absolutly nothing about it when he did. Both of them should be puniahed for Adultery as the only reason that a person as strong as Hillery wouldn't doo something about the situation is that she too cheated.

    LOL!!

I needed a good laugh this morning, I really enjoying all this change that the Obamaphiles are bringing, sadly they all sound like right wing talk radio hosts.

GOOD JOB in living up to the message of hope, change and unity!!
