Some hockey questions?
1. Haven't the Boston Bruin held a play-off spot since the season started? Will they be in the play-offs when the season ends?
2. Who was the better scorer? Brett Hull or Bobby Hull?
3. Do you think teams should be compensated for losing by getting into the draft lottery or do you think that all 30 teams should have a shot at #1.....even if it is weighted like the Crosby draft year. It would take a miracle for the 1st place team to get #1 but at least it would be possible. Why should a Detroit not have a chance for a Stamkos or a Tavares....even if it is a small chance. Good idea or bad idea?
4. Why do you think many of the lesser skilled goalies often seem to be the better ones in the shoot-out while some of the top tier goalies are not so great? Does it pay to be not as positionally sound in these situations? Dumb luck? Other?
5. Did you know? This will be the first year a Russian wins the scoring race. This year the Russians look like they will finish 1-2.
6. Will this be the year? A Newfoundlander FINALLY wins the cup?
Ryan Clowe-SJ
Daniel Cleary- Detroit
Michael Ryder-Montreal
7. You are in a best ball golf tournament for 1,000,000$$..........What NHL players or staff do you want with you to form your foursome?
8. Who is more brittle....Marion Gaborik, Martin Havlat, Carlo Colaiacovo or Tim Connolly?
LITY...I say Bobby.....just because I like to judge the eras by comparing their peers. Bobby led the league in scoring 7 times, Brett did it three times. That is the clincher for me.
I like your list....Fuhr obviously, Lemeuix was also on my list.....my other was Ron Wilson though, just because I heard that man has some serious game. In fact, I recently heard someone mention that right now, he is the best golfer in the NHL, bar none.
Heavy Soviet...you wouldn't want to win the $ in golf? LOL
LITY...I see we agree on the Ducks. Cole Harbour will get another parade if that is the case.....ditto if Pittsburgh wins.

I think they will be still in, the seem to play well after losses to MTL. They still control their destiny
2 Pure goal scorer Brett, Bobby was the better player
3 Yes, the draft goes back to the days of limited free agency- teams don't need the draft to improve so let everyone have a limited shot.
4 Not sure why but it happens. I guess what makes a good goalie great is rebound control. Some of the greats were not necessarily the best reflex goalies they did on positioning and rebound control. In the shootout rebounds are not relevant.
5 yes scoring title will be Russian as well as the Hart. Maybe vezina with Nabakov
6 Could well be SJ and Detroit have legitimate shots. Mtl- stranger things have happened 86 and 93 come to mind
7 Lemieux, Fuhr for reasons already stated. The Third is Brett Hull- wins the occasional pro-am and will be entertaining if nothing else
8 As much as Havlat comes to mind, Coliacavo never seems to be healthy enough to get out of training camp. Havlat usually makes it to the regular season. Connely seems to get injured end of season. Gotta go with the Leaf.

1.Bruins will fall off either wash or sabres will catch them
2. Who was the better scorer? Brett Hull or Bobby Hull?
Brett hull, bobby was the better all around play

Bad idea, I don't mind the current system but it should be tweaked so that all non playoff teams have a shot at #1.
4. Maybe lack of scouting by shooters
6. none of these team will win the cup
8. Who is more brittle....Marion Gaborik, Martin Havlat, Carlo Colaiacovo or Tim Connolly? Carlo is , reminds me of Koivu 6-7 years ago, he was always hurting by fluke injuries.

1. Tough call on Boston. It's more a flip of a coin. They have a great shot, but unfortunately have been playing very lack as of late, even on games they win. What do I even know though.. I'm a "dipshit".
2. Brett Hull
3. The draft lottery is complete nonsense. If it wasn't for the lottery, you would see Crosby and Ovechkin on the same line.
4. Just because there's weak SV% and GAA doesn't mean they aren't a better goalie position wise against one player. The goalie can read the players movement and handling to know exactly what he could be up to. In game situations, it could be different. A terrible D that covers nothing (NYR, ATL, WAS) could definitely have something to do with that. I judge not a goaltender by how he is in shoot-out. Goalies you least expect could read a player better than anyone.
5. Did not know that, but I will assume it won't be the last. Alexander Ovechkin is the premier player of the league.

1) Yes................and Yes
2) Bobby could score in more ways than Brett, but Brett's slap shot was a helluva lot more accurate than dear old dad's (although Uncle Dennis had an accurate slapper too)
3) I'm all for all teams having a shot at #1. For every Mario Lemieux and Joe Thornton, there is a Patrik Stefan and Alexandre Daigle so it all balances out in the wash. Sure, if the Islanders had chosen Lemieux they would have won 7-10 more Cups.............but Montreal chose Doug Wickenheiser, and they did indeed lose a beat.
It would all come out in the wash over time. Team Chemistry is easily disrupted, and a John Tavares can be a chemistry disrupter.
4) Penalty shot situations are the bread and butter of every goalie. This is what they practiced as a kid, this is practiced at the NHL level, etc. Unfortunately, some of these guys never learn to adjust to game play. Their peripheral vision isn't as good, their lateral movement isn't as good, their reflexes in that situation aren't as good.
At the age of 66.............I could probably save 50% of the breakaways I see in the NHL. Put me in a game and pass the puck around......I probably never see a shot go by me (and they all would).
Some goaltenders multitask better than others.
5) I am fully aware of this.
6) I am not aware of any Newfoundlanders on the Ducks......sorry
7) Ed Olczyk (Comcast/NBC announcer), Mario Lemieux (Pittsburgh owner), and Grant Fuhr (goaltending consultant for St. Louis). Former Black Hawk Doug Lecuyer played on the Canadian professional tour in the 80s and played in a a couple of US Open qualifiers barely missing one year. Grant Fuhr missed a chance at the PGA Q school by one shot one year. Olczyk and Lemieux are both 4x champions of the NHL golf tournament.
8) That's a toughy. Colaiacovo is Canadian so probably not him. Connolly has extremely tough luck and may hang it up. Gaborik and Havlat seem to break anything. I'm going to say Gaborik!
Forgot about Ron Wilson, he won the NHL golf tournament too...........30 years ago!
The Ducks are built for the playoffs, and in cruise control waiting to get there. I'm just hoping they don't get derailed by a hungrier team once they get there.

1. Boston was in the playoff run all along so Boston will make it. They will clinch the 8th spot.
2. Golden Brett
3. It is good. I would love for Detroit to keep getting skilled players in their organization.
4. Sometimes the better goalies get too over confident, well the less skilled goalies keep their focus.
5. Hooray Mother Russia!
6. Yes, Detroit and San Jose have a good chance at winning the cup. Montreal too actually.
7. Yzerman, Shanahan, Sergei Fedorov.
8.Connolly. I still remember the 2006 playoffs. I like this video about Gaborik however. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5u0khFnHUg
Bob - Haha, I wouldn't care about the money. Hanging out with some of my favorite players is enough for me.

1) Yes. Yes.
2) Brett, I saw them both.
3) Good idea. 30 chances for last place, 29 for second last and so on down to 1 chance for first place.
4) No idea.
5) Yes.
