I'm 12 weeks, and HUGE?

I'm not gaining much weight, but I've already had to buy maternity pants, and I look like I'm 2 months ahead of myself, haven't had an ultrasound from the dr yet. But I've had an ultrasound at the hospital, only saw one in there, but why do I look so big in the belly? I don't feel bloated.

Update:

Could they have missed a heartbeat?

were you small before you got pregnant? i am 13 weeks and have only gained 1 lb however my stomach is very large. most women i have known have not had this large of a belly at this point in the pregnancy. if you are smaller to begin with there is just less room for your baby to hide. i'm not in maternity pants yet because most of my jeans have quite a bit of stretch and i wear low cut jeans so most of them fall at the base of my belly. just enjoy it, i looooove pregnant bellies!

Most people don't really "show" that early. Usually when your belly is big in the first trimester it is bloating. And though it is not baby showing, by this point your uterus has grown from the size of a pear, to the size of a cantaloupe, so it would be starting to push your other organs up and even out a little. I would expect the bloating to go down a little in the next couple weeks, but at the same time you should starts showing at least a little within the next few weeks! (most first babies start showing between 15-22 weeks)

I am the same way. I was in maternity clothes at about 10 weeks with my daughter and I think a week earlier with my son. I just show big and early with an average weight gain. Good luck!

Is this a subsequent pregnancy? You usually will show quicker with a second pregnancy. I know a friend of mine is 15 weeks and is as big as I was a 6 1/2 months with my first, but this is her third. She also hasn't gained much weight.

Is this you first baby?? Well this is my 4th and I started to show at 8 weeks. In multiple pregnancies you tend to show earlier than if this was your 1st. If this is your 1st I would say that your probably just bloated or full of water.

If you're a tiny person to begin with you may well be showing a bit early than you might expect.

i found out i was having twins at my 16 week ultrasound....But at my first doctors visit my doc told me that " my uterus was large for date". She asked me if i was sure about the date i had given her as my last period and i was sure....so twins was the reason for the "large"ness in my case....You never know....have they only heard one heart beat ...?
