Do low levelled users not have as much reason to email as high level users?

I understand limiting stars and answers....but what is the point of limiting emails? i was just engaged in a highly stimulating email debate with another user....and, "Oops, i've exceeded my email limit."

do only high level users require clarification on matters from other posters?

I guess they're thinking it's like the rule of competency. The more incompetent you are, the less you know it. The more competent you are, the more you realize the areas of your incompetence.

Thus, people who have been here less time need less clarification.

Man, that was a lot of assumptions. ;)

The point is to easily limit spammers. Because people can create spam accounts, and if there was no e-mail limit, they could e-mail every person who asked or answered with spam; they'd be reported; their account would be closed, but by that time they'd be on to the next account and spamming.

If you've been with the site for a while, and if you've proven that you're interested in asking and answering, then Yahoo trusts you not to spam through e-mail

Yep, and in order to be a high level user you need a lot of time on your hands which mean you don't need time for a job which means you are either a kid or wealthy and we all know the wealthy deserve the perks.

Incentive for you to keep on paricipating. Protection of other members from trolling. If you were a troll then you will probably get deleted and have to start over before you can harass people too much.

My best guess. Since they appear to want you to gain standing first.

I think it's to prevent level 1 spam bots. Next time you're in a debate, give your yahoo email address to the person you're debating with and if you run out of messages, move it to email.

I assume this is an attempt to squelch the trolls but it basically sucks... I'm sorry! Even higher levels are limited though. I had 1000/day when I was level 6. Granted that was far more than I needed... but still. Anyway, I'm sorry you cute lil' newbie you. (((Phantom)))

I honestly don't understand any of the limits Yahoo imposes.

If someone's going to troll and spam, limits won't prevent that - it'll only encourage multiple accounts.

Apparently so. Why is there a point rating on here either? It says so that people know who is more involved and has better answers yet people ask questions and give the best answer to someone who shares the same view as them. This entire system is messed up.

I'm currently working on another profile (same name - just in case)

    I can ask questions

    I can answer questions

    I can email people

    I can report people

But my low level can't give a thumbs up or thumbs down????

    *eye roll*

I experienced that and all I did was to wait for my time get the privilege and it did not take long. Have patience. Perhaps, you can try writing to the asker in his own e-mail address and provide him with your pleasant exchange.
