Feeling trapped from recent car deal-any advice?

In Jan my husband and I decided to purchase a new vehicle. Now this is the "trap" we are stationed overseas and are very limited to places we can shop for vehicles. We chose one from a dealer on Post-supposedly we get a direct price, tax free, and all or any encentives available to the public. Thats fine and we feel we got a fair deal. Original delivery date was to be March 3, then moved up to the weekend of the 15/16...now for the last two weeks we have heard nothing from them yet except promises it is here in Germany and everyday is a new due date of course...today is very late Wed for me already. I feel as though I am a garanteed customer and they are no longer in a hurry to get me something I have agreed to purchase. we have signed much paperwork- they know or believe this is a done deal. I am to the point I really would prefer to tell them to shove it, but reality is, I had the van special ordered to my specifications and was very excited to get it. Any ideas for compensation?

The dealer does not build the car. They just sold it. I'm sure they would get it if there was a way to speed things up. Forget getting money back. That will never happen. You're excited and impatient. Relax and go about your business until you get the call.

You are dealing with a manufacturing problem now, not so much a dealer one, especially if it is a '09 model, which is being pushed to every dealer in the country in a first built first shipped fashion. This in turn creates a strain on the rail system keeping enough of the armor plated rail cars used to transport cars these days in a position to haul fresh production. As far compensation I might suggest a free service contract for being stupid and promising or even guessing a delivery date for a new model car with a customer. He or she can't sell what he doesn't have so there is no percentage in leading you on.

Have you spoken to the dealer's manager to get the real story on your van? The salespeople may have given you an unreasonable delivery date and are just covering up their blunder by using these stalling tactics. If this dealership deals directly with your post, is there someone on the base that can assist you with finding out what your alternative courses of action are? Look at your contract closely, is there any clause in there that says if the car is not delivered by a certain date, you are entitled to a full refund? Good luck to you both!

You can tell them POLITELY that you would appreciate a month's payment deducted from your balance owed due to the van's delayed delivery. It's not that the salespeople are not prioritizing your van's delivery. Obviously there's a hold-up with paperwork and transport of the van to your location, which is very much out of the retailers' hands. Please remember when you discuss this with the dealer that they are human beings, not robots and not without feelings. Venting your frustration at the delay i.e. resorting to name-calling or insulting behavior should not be an option. And when they DO give you whatever compensation you and the dealer agree to, get it in writing.

have one final talk with the sales manager. If they cannot give you an exact date for delivery of the car, walk away from this transaction. make sure you get your refund back. Even though you special ordered this car, you are under no obligation to purchase it. Plus the salesman has already lied to you twice about the delivery date.

Look,,they dont get thier money until you get the car. So they want this thing delivered just as much as you do. They are not the ones who are holding things up.
