How do you add water to your fish tank?

I have been sort of skipping out on my weekly water changes for my fish tank and figured I better start back on that again. Well I quickly remembered why I stopped in the first place. Although going to the store to buy distilled water is only about 90 cents a gallon. I would change about 25% of the water each week so I have to buy atleast 5 of those each week and that can add up! How do you guys get the water for your tank?

I siphon it out with a tube.

I do the slow thing with a mop buck and a small aquarium hose. (Can't afford anything else.)

Then when you're done, fill the bucket with clean dechlorinated water and siphon it back into the tank by making it higher than the tank and pulling the water through.

You can use a ladder or bookshelf, whatever's handy.

Many gravel cleaners will also reverse water back into the tank.

$0.90/g is HIGH. All you need is a bucket full of water with dechlorinate in it.

Save the bottles, or buy a 5 gallon water jug from the store, and fill it up once a week with TAP WATER after you finish cleaning your tank. This way, it's dechlorinated and ready for you the next week.

    Much cheaper!

(Even when I do use bottled water, it's only $0.20 a gallon for me. You might want to shop around for a better store.)

Buy some type of chlorine neutralizer. Real cheap, couple a bucks and it tells you how many drops to use per gallon. Or take some empty gallon jugs, fill them with tap water and simply let them sit for 24 hours. The water then becomes safe and useable. Usualy the rule of thumb is change out half of the water only.

i get a humungous bucket and put in tap water. I stick outside and let the sun evaporate the chlorine for 24 hours. Then I put a few drops of conditioner just in case. Then I siphon the fish tank and add the water. But i have coldwater fish so u might need to adjust the temperature of the bucket if u have tropical fish, so it doesnt put on stress on the fish.

Distilled water isn't the best for your fish anyway because it lacks minerals,it's better to just use tap water and add something to take out the chlorine, that is what I do.

I just get huge pasta bowl things that my mom cooks in and just put tap water in it. I use alll of my aqua safe and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then i put the water into my fishtank. I understand it can be a hassle when you have a larger sized tank.

    Use tap water.

Now, tap water contains more than chlorine so leaving it out doesen't work any more. There is chloramine so you must buy the water conditioners or balancers.
