If they are pushing the limit or getting people overly fired up, I think yahoo responds to the masses more than adjudicated free speach.

Well, it would cost Yahoo a lot of money to hire people to review each individual report and determine whether or not that report is in fact legitimate. The unfortunate thing is that Yahoo doesn't want to spend that money, so a couple of years ago they established "community moderation," which enables Y!A users to report anything they see that breaks the community guidelines. The downside to it is that it allows trolls to run amok. So I completely understand your frustration as I have been a victim of malicious/unjustified reporting.
Y!A's FAQ says that a question or answer will be removed if it's reported by one or more "reliable users." If the circumstance is more serious then the Answers staff may remove a question or answer themselves after reviewing it. However, the majority of the time they're just automatically removed and violation notices are issued, because of the way the Y!A system is designed. I personally feel the whole reporting/violation system needs to be changed because innocent questions and answers will be reported/removed while others, that are extremely offensive, are left alone. PLUS, I know that there are waaaaaay too many trolls disguised as "reliable users" who are out to get other users they don't like by wrongfully reporting them.
Furthermore, people who state their opinions are being reported as well. And Y!A says that having a strong opinion is NOT a justifiable reason for reporting someone. They just ask that users "do not use slurs to refer to groups of people, do not insult other members, and do not act in a belligerent manner towards others" when stating their opinions. Unfortunately other users still do report opinionated questions or answers regardless of the fact that they don't violate any of the community guidelines. This is EXTREMELY frustrating because honest Y!A users shouldn't have to pay the price for report happy trolls!

Maybe you offended someone. I think I offended someone when my question and a seperate answer was deleted. They said I was "chatting." I think I was reported or caught the attention from a Y!A content editor. Maybe yours was too. I think the guidelines are soft and difficult to enforce. Y!A may be relying on other answerer's to report (you or me). If Y!A ws doing all the policing, I don't see how some of my other answers could have gotten through.
I've seen questions and answers that turned into full on debates or point counterpoint exchanges: question then answer then questioner responds, gets another answer and questioner responds again. Is this not chatting? It seems immaturity, ignorance, rants & raves, stupididty, sexism may get through, but get close to offending someone and your out.

it happens to everyone. i had one removed the other day and i cant for the life of me work out why. it does drive me mental. i still cant work out who decides or weather it is just someone that cant think of answers that spends there time on here reporting questions.

It's just an automated process. As soon as someone reports you, your question gets deleted. They don't actually read it first. You can protest it but that won't do much. When that happens to me I just send them an e-mail and in it I just type FCUK you yahoo. It kinda makes me feel good.

Um, I know how fcking annoying it is but maybe check out what your questions are. maybe they were racist or agianst a religion or something...people on here are very picky and yea delete questions a lot. You could report to Y!A though and they can put your question back up...

I think you have a troll on your hands darling :/ It sucks try weeding them out. I once had a guy who only answered MY questions with random nonsensical things and would put numbers for his sources.
I had a feeling he was just looking for me to violate. Well, i suppose i sort of did by not properly wording my question and got a violation for it. I know it was him who reported me :(.
