Do lone parents get more Child Benefit?

no child benefit is set at a standard rate per child. its 18.10 for your first then a bit less for your second. income support might give you extra for being a single parent but this will be an overall amount rather than per person. if they gave you an extra £10 per week child benefit for being a single parent there would be a lot of single parents!!!! contact your DWP office and make sure you are getting all you are entitled too because they wont tell you.

No. Child Benefit is paid at a fixed rate. It doesn't matter if you are married and earning £60,000 a year or a single parent on benefit, you still get the £18.10 a week (for a first child - due to rise by 70p in April I think). Child Tax Credit is a different matter.

i believe before 2003 they also received a lone parent benefit, but that has now stopped. The only other thing i can think of is if you are on benefits and the csa are collecting regular payments from the father the csa will pay you £10 of what he is paying whether it is £10 or £200 per week as you are on benefits. not fair i know!

No this is not true i am a a single parent i get the same as everybody else £18.10 for the first child and then £12 something for next child. But i do get resposnibilty protection which protects my pension. I do get high child tax credit element thing.

You get the the same Child benefit. Everyone gets the same whether their rich or poor. But you may be able to get other help depends on your circumstances. My friend has just become a single parent and unlike the above she IS better off working. It all depends.

There are no additional benefits for single parents at all. all benefits are income related, it might be that single parents sometimes get more tax credits but only because the total household income is usually lower than a two income household.

there is no single parent tax credit, there is working family tax credit, child tax credit and childcare tax credit.

no you don't get more child benefit you would get more child tax and working child tax but before you work i would make appointment with an advice to see if you would be better of part or full time work the should be able to advice
