Scented candles next to marine setup...?
I have a salt water marine fish tank setup, it has inverts, fish, live rock and corals. Tank is 600 litres. It has a large sump and protein skimmer.
Is it safe to use scented candles in the same room as the tank? I know some scented sprays, cleaning products and deodrants can kill the fish quickly, is it the same for the candles?
PS. No offense intended, but if you don't know, don't answer.
Thanks!

the candles won't do much. but the sprays will stay in the air and land in the water, those can cause problems.

Candles are wax, which you may have noticed, doesn't dissolve in water, nor does water dissolve in wax. That means the scent in the candles must dissolve in the wax, which means it doesn't dissolve in water. So, no worries; just avoid the aerosol sprays like you mentioned.
EDIT: Danielle, ever tried dissolving oil in water? Ever tried mixing an oil-based salad dressing? Oils don't dissolve in water either...

not all candels are wax many today are soy oils solidified and can pose a risk. When oils burn residues fill the air, which is why you need to wash the walls in the kitchen. Be careful what your candels are made of.
While it is true the oils from sprays can and will coat the tanks surfaces they can potentially kill your fish.
I always recomend not burning non wax candels and never spraying anything in the room with a tank.
