Wives: did your now husband ever give you a PROMISE ring?

My husband gave me a promise ring with 3 diamonds symbolizing "Yesterday, Today, Forever". HA! As soon as we said "I do", his real colors showed through and he did a 180. As we were splitting up, he told me he wanted all the jewelry back that he had given me. (What for? So he can give it to the next victim?)

I just read everything you wrote. He KNOWS you want to marry him, HE however isn't ready at this time and will not and should not be forced into anything by YOU. Part of a relationship is understanding the other person, if you force the issue again, you will be "nagging" and it will be a turn off for him. He gets enough crap from his family. When he is ready he will commit by marriage. Drop the subject all together and DO NOT mention it again, if it bothers you that he is not asking you to marry him then you need to dump him and hope someone else comes along, but otherwise he already knows how you feel about it and he still hasn't proposed.

The only ring I got was the ultimate promise - to love, honor and cherish for the rest of our lives... The little promise ring is for kids, I think.. I got one when I was 15 I think, but his mom made me give it back when we broke up....

I have never heard of a promise ring a going steady ring is that what you mean.

yes my husband did give me a promise ring when I was 16 I believe. We have been married now for almost18 years now so I guess I beat the age of 21!! Yeah ME!!

nope. didnt do the promise ring. to me, thats for teenagers. we werent that young. i got an engagement ring...like normal.

I WAS 28 and she was 26 when i gave her the promise ring. its not just a teenie bopper thing, it just depends on what values your man holds. traditional values dictate that there be a promise ring, then an engagement ring and then the wedding rings.
