Americans in particular have good speaking voices. The same applies to the Irish and to the Scots. So, if you are one of any of the above, you'll do just fine. The trick with speech making is practice. Take your time. Begin by writing the first couple of lines of your speech, then stand before a mirror and speak the words outloud. Hold your chin up. If possible record as you speak, that way you can play back and edit and improve as you go.
