What do you think of the latest Gallup poll which shows Senator Obama with a double digit lead?
T
(CNN)— A new poll finds a majority of Republicans and Democrats feel Sen. Barack Obama would be a tougher candidate against the presumptive Republican nominee John McCain in a potential fall match-up.
In a Gallup poll released Monday, 59 percent of Democratic voters believe Obama has the best chance at beating John McCain. Thirty percent said Clinton was more likely to win a matchup with the Arizona senator.
Republicans surveyed say Clinton would be the easiest to beat: 64 percent said Clinton would make a weaker fall opponent for McCain, while just 22 percent said Obama.
The survey of 1,005 adults conducted March 24-27 has a sampling error of 4 percent.
The discussion of which Democrat stands the strongest against John McCain has been an ongoing debate since the Republican race narrowed leaving the Arizona Senator as the Republican nominee in waiting.
A Gallup poll released last week suggested a majority of Democrats would cast a vote for John McCain this fall if the candidate they support does not win the Democratic nomination. This is particularly true of Clinton’s supporters, one third of whom said they will vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee.

It is truly comical to see the responses from Hillary supporters.
If the result of this poll were in Hillary's flavor they would be crowing and defending it's accuracy. The fact is that "sniper-gate" has hurt Hillary's numbers because she repeated the same bold face lie so many times and continued to do so even after other witnesses like Sinbad called her out on it.
When she was finally proved a liar her response was "well I'm human" implying that everyone lies. It is like a thief saying everyone steals. Hillary's response reminds us of the comment by David Geffen who after dealing with the Clintons on several occasions was shocked at the ease with which they lie.
In contrast Obama's numbers seemed to have rebounded a week or so after the Jeremiah Wright story.
Keep in mind that all these polls are just a snap shot of a moment in time. Next week they could all be different.

The polls show that what the majority who voted for Obama already know...he's the stronger candidate because he has the cleaner record, an honest and wise mind and he connects with the people rather than shed crocodile tears like some candidates...Clinton may boast of having more experience but her experience still led her down the path to choosing WAR. As the last 7 years has shown, experience isn't whats needed ...WISDOM is the key to a good presidency....
Hillary chose to go to war just to go with the flow....Obama had the resolve to say 'hell no'...
as a result, he's the only candidate that won't have to wash blood off his hands to answer the 3am phone call...

These polls are really silly...come Nov we will be thinking differently anyway. Either Obama or Clinton will be history and we will be worried about the economy and the war and that is it.
Usually the party out of power always wins when the economy is doing poorly - that is what history teaches us. So, polls at this early stage represent intellectual masturbation!

The gallup poll is the gallup poll. What a waste of emotions to hate Obama so much people! It's so true that Hillary attracts polarization!
The polls have been remarkably consistent for now over a week. The trend clearly shows Hillary is losing ground. She has accepted to look nasty, he has tried to look cool--maybe that's all it took!

I agree. I think Obama has a better chance of beating McCain. But it really comes down to one question for me; One hundred more years in Iraq or not? I will vote for the Democratic nominee.

I think it is great. People seem to be disgusted with Hillary's lies and see the light - finally. Obama is the best candidate.

The polls aren't worth a damn right now.
The only real "poll" that will matter is the result that comes out of PA. Once PA's been and gone, then we'll have a better idea of where things are at.
Until then, I don't really take any notice of the polls one way or the other.

It means that he can fool people no matter what and that he can fool enough people in November to become the 44th POTUS. So Help US GOD!

Polls change daily. You can't base your political position or prove anything with a poll unless it's consistent over a long period of time.
