Because democrats and republicans alike believe that McCain will defeat Obama easily in the general election.
The republicans voting for Obama to get the favorable match-up.
The democrats voting against Obama in hopes of having a democrat in the White House.
I think Hill is doing better, now, after 'typical white' voters were stimulated into action by the disillusioned early primaries.

Cause the polls include all 3 people. You have to narrow it down to 2. Which will be Obama and McCain. Right now nationally Obama leads Hillary and McCain in 1 on 1 contests.

In the case of Florida, there is definitely an element of him being blamed for disenfranchising the 1.7 million Democrats who voted in the primary in which he WAS on the ballot. If he didn't think it mattered then why didn't he remove his name from the ballot as in Michigan? The reality is that Obama is failing in all or nearly all the swing states where he needs to win in November.

Hillary used to have a 20% lead over Obama in PA and that is now down to 5% with 3 weeks to go before the primary.
