Top 3 Things you want your child to learn?

Im a nanny and I am writing some childrens poetry on various subjects ie washing your hands, crossing the street, interrupting adults talk...just to name a few.

Im looking for more, therefor:

As Parents and Adults....

what are the 3 topics that you would want/prefer your child to learn?

(feel free to make a list too but please mark your Top 3)

Thanx in advance.

Update:

Goldielox - Thanx for all of those, theres definately plenty I can use there. Here's one for you which works great.

Excuse Me.

"Interupting adults talk, is not polite to do.

So say excuse me once, then wait......

For them to talk to you".

Hoping to have my collection of verses published under the title. 'Lyrics for Life' or something similar. May also add some of my short stories in the same style too.

Not sure how to keep you posted on the progress but have added you and will post on here if things go thru...

Update 2:

Thanx to all of you for some great new ideas for me, most of you covered of course the priority ones that Ive already written about.

I am a mom of three and a clerk at an elementary school so this is a perfect question for me. How I wish some of those school parents had your poems. Giggle.

    1. How to use good table manners like little ladies and gents.(sea food and see food are not the same)

    2. How to have a conversation with the opposite sex( mostly for boys)(farts and burps are only funny once in a while)

    3. How each day is a gift we can give another and that gift should be kindness and caring for one another.(ie not put downs or making fun of others)

    4. Learn to wait your turn, no pushing shoving or trampling each other. (Our friends are not all named MAT)

    5. Respect of adults. Yes, we still like to hear M'am and Sir

    6. Underwear is called underwear for a reason(it goes under WHERE???)

    7. The golden rule...need I say more?

    8. Old people have lots of great stories(my grandpa''s teacher was Wyatt Earp's cousin, for real!)

    9. Giving feels great! (Find that Angel Tree every month)

    10. Chores are Yours! and progressive(learn them now cause mommy won't clean your room when your forty.)( I tell my kids, they chores change each year so that by the time they are 16 they can feed, cloth, clean and budget themselves right into adulthood.)

Hope that gives you a bit o' word fodder. What a great idea you have. Be sure to share them with us. And thanks for your service to the little people of the planet just in case no one else has thanked ya!

While those things are important..I feel that there are many more important issues children should learn at an early age.

Accept people that are different then you is a big one in my book.

    2.) Honesty

    3.) Self Confidence

    4.)To be her own person

Of course other things such as not to talk out of line, or when others are speaking, be clean etc. Overall have good morals and beliefs.
