Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich?

My kids watch Foxtel with alot of American shows on Nick Junior and have just asked me to make them peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I obviously know what peanut butter is but in Australia jelly it a desert - I think it is called Jello elsewhere???

Anyway, how do I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

And give me a star if you have ever had Vegemite!

Update:

It's Friday 4th April @ 11.25am.

So it sounds like it is just strawberry or fruit jam. I have that! How exciting to be making an American lunch!

They will probably say it is horrible and want Vegemite like usual!!! LOL.

Update 2:

THEY WERE A HUGE SUCCESS! Thanks all for bringing a little of your home in to my home!

OMG is pb & j just an american thing???? How funny!! I have probably eaten 10,000 in my life. Wow I don't know why this just blows my mind. I ate one today actually! Do you guys have smooth and crunchy peanut butter? You just spread the peanut butter...thick but not so thick as to choke. Spread on the jelly...some like a lot ...some a little. I personally like preserves in mine. Slap the two slices of bread together and enjoy. Follow by a big glass of milk. Strawberry jelly is best...grape will do...Raspberry preserves...AWESOME!! I don't recommend marmalade but when desperate. Well, thats about all my pb&j knowledge. Update how your kids like it!!

    Wow an Australian ;O

Peanut butter and jelly is a common sandwich in the states. :)

Peanut butter is made from peanuts. Jelly is usually fruit in a jar without the seeds. Jam (which is better for you) has seeds and chunks of fruit. Peanut butter and jelly is served on bread.

Jelly is not like jello but they both do jiggle :)

It's also reffered to as PB&J.

    -had one this morning-

Peanut butter is easy enough to come by, but jelly may be preserves or jam where you live. I love a good PB &J with strawberry jam :) I assume that jelly means jello where you live (Australia, how cool!). You spread some peanut butter on bread and spread some jam (jelly) on bread, put both pieces together and viola! A peanut butter and jelly sandwich! By the way jam and preserves tend to have less sugar than jelly.

And yes I have had Vegemite...I'm sorry to say but that is some of the nastiest stuff I've ever eaten, lol. :) But it is very good for you from what I understand.

Glad they were a success :) Most kids love 'em!

I was confused when I first read your question - I thought you were saying that peanut butter and jelly is a dessert in Australia. Yes, as others have said, what we call jelly is what you know as jam. My son especially loves his peanut butter (or almond butter, or sunflower butter) sandwiches with all - natural strawberry jam.

I've heard of vegemite, and apparently liked it when I was a toddler - although I don't remember eating it. It's supposed to be very salty, isn't it? So here's a star for you! Bon appetit!

Do you have Jam there? (If I sound like an idiot asking that sorry)

My kids can't taste a difference between jam and jelly, it's basically the same thing. Just slap that & some peanut butter onbread, yummy!

It's also known as jam, fruit preserves, fruit spread, etc. In America it's usually grape, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry or apricot flavored and made out of fruit, gelatin or pectin and sugar.

Take 2 pieces of bread, spread peanut butter on one slice and the jam/jelly/whatever it's called in Australia on the other slice and stick them together. That's it.

I tasted vegimite once. That stuff is just vile and wrong. Yuck.

Jello is something different from Jelly. It is sort of on the lines of Jam if you have that there. The sandwiches are actually very delicious.
