If i cannot wrap my individual mind around every nuance of evolution it is clearly false, right?

I was not a biology major and there are some concepts biology majors understand that I do not.

Because I do not understand these concepts, aren't they automatically wrong?

Also, no biology majors please. If i wanted biology majors, I'd ask in the biology section.

By jove, you're right! I don't understand every facet of gravity, so it must be false after all!

Jesussaves: You're absolutely correct. That's why there is only one breed of dog and one breed of cat, nothing changes. And that's why we don't have really large cats like lions and tigers, because nothing ever changes into a different species! I wish africa would stop spreading these lies with all their photoshopped pictures!

Once you've been hanging around the Earth for about 1 billion years and nothing has changed, THEN you can start talking. Stop thinking things are going to evolve in the short span of your life time. It's small-minded and ignorant.

Edit: Jesussaves, and again I tell you, when you have been around for 1 billion years and cannot see a difference in animals from beginning to end, then you can talk. It's ignorant of you to expect to SEE the changes evolution produces. They happen over millions and billions of years. You are making Jeff's point by even trying to discuss on this topic, because you obviously are unfamiliar with any of the major points of the theory. You want proof? Why do we share 99% of our DNA with a chimpanzee? Because we share ancestors. Some evolved into monkeys, others evolved to be more human. Over BILLIONS of years.

Edit again: That's fine, you don't have to believe me. But take a look at this question from Labgrrl, who is a biologist. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Alw9q...

Yet another edit: No, I already smashed your argument and you just showed everyone how ignorant you truly are about the theory of evolution. I'm just pawning you off on someone else who is more knowledgeable in the hopes that maybe THEY can get through to you. I used to be a Christian, I understand and know the history of Christianity, and I reject it. You reject evolution out of hand without having any understanding of it, and then continue to preach lies to turn others off to it as well. You know what I remember most from Christianity, jesussaves? I remember that liars go to Hell.

You've got the right idea. Just because you, in your mortal human mind, cannot fully understand every nuance of a particular theory or belief does not automatically make it false.

That goes for evolution, for global warming, for why wars happen, for belief in GOD, for understanding of the Trinity.

See, people do this on both sides. If they don't get it, it must be wrong. Hilariously enough, this argument is mostly used to argue that Christians must all be idiots. Since an atheist or other non-Christian cannot understand our faith (at a particular age, after being raised in a particular way) then it must be wrong.

At the same time, if you don't understand what evolution is really defined as, you cannot completely discredit it.

Just as you shouldn't blindly believe in your religion, you should not blindly accept all theories put forth by scientists.

The medical world screws up every other day and has to reassess. It's the same with evolution. It's an idea that will be transformed, adapted, and changed as we learn more about our origins.

When I see a chihuahua I think bear. I don't understand it, but there it is. Evolutionary science says chihuahuas and bears came off the same tree, and I can see why even though I don't understand it. So, just because you can't make sense out of it doesn't negate it.

Looking at your avatar I can see the resemblance to a monkey. I might not be able to wrap my mind around all the nuances of that resemblance but it's still there. So, just because you don't understand how you look that way doesn't negate the fact that you look like a monkey.

Jesussaves, not all Christians hold to your view of creation, and you need to explore other options besides the world created 6,000 years ago. The day/age theory views the days of the creation figuratively because "day" is used in many passages figuratively for a period of time. So, the days can be viewed as ages separated by great expanses of time.

Actually we haven't been around for billions of years as human. At the outside, perhaps a million.

Evidence of evolution is in the bones we dig from the ground. Humans have changed over time.

We manipulate evolution with plants all the time. Wheat has been changed in many ways from the original grass found in the Middle East. We can see this all around in the great variety of oranges, apples, mangoes, grapes and on and on. We manipulate evoluyion by allowing the variety of plant we find useful to survive in numbers while getting rid of the plants that prove not so good. A simple survival of the fitest brought to the 'lab'.

Of course, natural evolution is much more complex. Through natural evolution we likely won't get the best apple but the apple best able to survive.

Dang. I majored in biology for my associates. Still that was a number of years ago and they have learned so much more since I do not understand all the new information. That does not make it false. That just means I am ignorant about it.

I can't take an engine apart and reassemble it. That does not mean my car runs on magic.

That's right, and since there are more stars in the sky

than there are brain cells in our minds, we have to give

over the universe to god as well. When nature is too

complicated for anyone other than a specialist to begin

to understand, that's proof that god did it.

You shouldn't pick on the biology majors, some of them

offered to take Pastor Winthrop over to the biology section

and give him the whupping he deserved for posting his

    pseudo genetic questions.

Oops sorry, I was a biology major at one time. Hi anyway! No, just because you don't understand something does not automatically make it false. Just like not understanding our omnipotent creator doesn't make him nonexistent.

Of course. If a Christian asks you a question about the way something in nature works and you don't personally, right off the top of your head, have a factually sound answer supported by an enormous amount of iron-clad evidence, then that constitutes conclusive proof God did it! And even if you do have such an answer... God still did it!

    No.

I don't understand Calculus (only took Pre-Cal) but that doesn't mean that math is "wrong" or that it doesn't exist. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's wrong!! A concept is only "wrong" if it's false. Evolution is confirmed by mountains of biological, fossil, and genetic evidence, even at the molecular level. It is NOT wrong.

If you believe that everything that don't or can't fully understand is automatically false , I would say that your individual mind needs a little wrapping .
