Can you imagine the uproar if this was said about any other religious group?
Speaking about Atheism: "This is the Land of Lincoln where people believe in God, where people believe in protecting their children.… What you have to spew and spread is extremely dangerous, it’s...dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists...You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon."

What do you all think about this?
Oh yeah, this was an Illinois State Assemblywoman.

Wow. How sad that a state assemblywoman doesn't realize that the United States is still a free country.
She is certainly entitled to her religious beliefs. I wonder why she thinks others are not.

Only fools dismiss alternatvie beliefs in such ways.
Who ever said it is no more than a very foolish person. Whomever agrees are very foolish people.
So I wouldn't worry.
If your faith is so fragile it can be so easily corrupted, as this exerpt suggests, then I have only pity for you.
I may not believe in God, but I am not so fragile minded that I can't hold my own opinions and let others have theirs.
*edit*
Also, to the girl below, I think anyone saying anything bad about anothers view is rude, however I do think it is worse when christians say bad things about atheists because atheists don't think that the christians will go to hell for their comments.
It is harder to accept something you can see going unpunished than beleieving everyone will get what is just.

This would never be said about another religion. Atheists do not discriminate on a religious basis. Xians always whine about how put upon and discriminated against they are, but that is only the smoke screen to hide their own bigotry and hatred. Xians have never known discrimination. And have always been the discriminators.

Those comments are disgusting and once again show the total lack of tolerance that some Christians have for those who don't toe the Christian line.
The comments are also factually incorrect.
Furthermore, it is clearly against the charter of human rights .

It's sad and worrying at the same time. People - even of this woman's education - seem to have been so brainwashed by religion that they really do think not having a religion is dangerous.
As an Englishwoman it's hard for me to comprehend

I did get a synopsis of what was said, and what I read was Amen to that! I'm tired of seeing Xmas and the whole medias outlook of Christmas. Santa Claus did exist. He was a ST. He's spirit those exist in us all, but Christmas is first Jesus celebrated Birth! My Rant, should I be sorry for it?
I have "Faith" in my beliefs and to Atheists, they might think that's brain-Washing, but really who's right and who's wrong. I just request that you "wake up!" For me, the "Sleeper is awake." Are you sleeping?
Adding:
I think it's started already and Shun the Troll out there as I toss my sword's sheath at tee and Head Hunt! :P From someone who has the wool over there eyes and refuses to really "See" the truth out there, aka, doubting apostle! Last to the troll out there! "We don't need no Stinking Badges!" and "Try to strike me down. I'll return stronger then ever for it!" So please Go ahead, aka Goat head! :P

Thanks for the link. When she said, "Get out of here" I couldn't listen to her voice for one minute longer and got out of there. I could never imagine Christ making his point in this way. Fundamentalism is not what true Christianity is all about.

It's America, she has a right to say what she said just like the atheists have a right to disagree with what she believes. It's called freedom.

Am I supposed to be shocked? And what do you mean by any "other" religious group? Atheism is not a religious philosophy. It is the lack of one. We don't tell people who don't collect stamps that they are stamp collectors.

I think it is funny,really.
A lot of them not only fear that we atheists are right, but can't even step out of their little bubble to see the bigger picture. And that would make them see just how ridiculous they really look to us.
