Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

What do you think of this Idea?

With the seemly growing problem of bogus reporting I propose a commitee of 3 Top Contributers be formed To review all reported questions or statements and give their opinions of weither the complaint is valid or not ,to the answers board. Thiswould of course be for this section only. the others can opt to do one on their own. Also these 3 commitee members would be volunteary basis and would be only for 6 months. I realize this is not a perfect plan but it could be the beginning of one.

This is happening to us and we need to fix the problem.

The idea being that this section would police itself? That is a good idea. What we have now is similar to the Old West -- shootouts and people sniping at each other, with whoever having the bigger "gang" usually winning. Obviously Yahoo's "community moderation" is not working. The "reporting" system is being abused, and questions, answers, and even entire accounts are being deleted out of childishness, hatred, spite, and just because "they" can. A three-person committee to funnel all wrestling section "reports" through might go a long way toward eliminating the abuse of that system here in this section.

Assuming Yahoo!Answers agrees to it and sets it up so that our committee would receive all "reports" from the wrestling section, and they in turn accept only those "reports" sent from our committee, we are left with a few problems:

How will it be decided who will make up this committee? Does this section nominate and then vote on the three members? What are the requirements for being considered to be part of this committee? A minimum amount of time being active in this section? Top Contributor status? Age? Or, does Yahoo pick the people for this committee? If it is done by nomination and voting we put ourselves at risk that an unworthy user with a lot of friends (or multiple accounts) will be put in charge and the abuse of the "reporting" system will be much much worse.

Will this section know who these three committee members are? Anonymity would be better so that these three aren't targeted by disgruntled users. The alternative, if these three members' usernames are made known, is they are immune to reporting. But not immune to having complaints filed against them to Yahoo, should someone feel that need.

Assuming a six-month term, what is the back-up plan should one (or more) member decide that the job is too time-consuming or has other reasons for not wanting this responsibility?

I am all for fixing the "reporting" abuse in this section. You have a good idea that needs a few details ironed out. And Yahoo's approval and help in setting this up.

I think this would be a good idea. If you had top contributors, it would give it a little more validity than someone who only comes here every once in awhile (no offense to the lurkers). It may help with getting rid of some of the problems that we've been having in this secion. I would definitely go for something like this.

Agreed.I know a few users here who have been suspended and had to start from scratch. It's a good idea in principle, which Yahoo would have to ultimately sanction. The hard part could be getting 3 committed TC users to forego their time in this section by dealing with the reports instead.

It seems like a not bad plan. We'll need Yahoo's approval for this but it is a good plan. The wrestling section's top users seem to get reported for no apparent reason

maybe but who would want the job of dealing with trolls besides a guy with no life who copy's other peoples answers?

there is a problem with reporting, I'll admit that as people will disagree with you and report it out of spite.its happened to me so I don't ask questions anymore.the solution is to ban trolls, maybe by vote or something, they start a new account, get rid of them again and maybe they will leave forever. Stealing answers will not make anyone a top contributor, why anyone would want that makes no sense to me.

Great Idea but I doubt that yahoo will accept it.

most of the yahoo authorities know nothing about wrestling and they delete the questions & answers because it got reported by some hatters.

top contributers will create an iMPACT.

The absolute best way to turn him on is to surprise him. Make the move on him in an unusual location or setting. Break any scheduling habits you may have also. The more you talk about it, he will probably grow uncomfortable. If you play the feminist point of view...He is not going to go for it.

Yeah. What sucks is that most people wouldn't pick my answers because I dont have the yellow contributor tag. I just started on here so yeah. I know pretty much everything about wrestling. So I'm one to ask.

  • sounds good too me. i just had another question reported and i tried appealing it or whatever i just did. it was the one where i asked what wrestlers people met. nothing wrong was said and i was getting good answers. i don't understand what happened with that.
