Cigars - Starting up?

So I just received my 25-50 capacity humidor, and I believe it's broken in now. Anyway, just wanted to know what's a good way to start. I went to my local cigar store to pick up 7 random brands of cigars to try out (I figured when I smoke them i'll try to keep note of how they taste from start to finish, like my own personal rating).

Umm any recommendations on a pack of 20-25 cigars I should try smoking..most likely a sampler pack..to kind of see what I like before I start really stocking up on a particular brand/type of cigar. I've checked out cigarinternational.com and there are so many packs I have no idea where to start.

I think your off to a great start. I would continue buying samplers or random sticks till you figure out what type of smoke your prefer. I wouldn't make a commitment to 20-25 cigars until your sure. Good luck and happy tastings!

I have no idea about cigars, but I would also like to start something up myself. For me, I would like to start drinking and trying different types of Absinthe. I didn't know where to start and sort of just jumped in and bought a few drinks online, which I now feel may have been the wrong place to start after reading some reviews. The lesson learned is that I should have read reviews first to find out not only what is the best, but what is the best to start with. I haven't received my products yet, but I plan on buying another brand which got fairly decent reviews when my set comes in to start with and go from there.

Anyway, Reviews are the best way to find products to start with. It also helps to understand the history of what you want to do.

I think it would be best to go with an average brand first to get a feel of what to expect and to be able to fully appreciate the higher quality brands.

Start off mild. Like a macanudo. And a Fuente Chateau.

Also start with smaller cigars. Like robusto or lonsdales.

If you go too strong too early, you won't like it as much. That said, if you're feeling risky, go for a La Gloria Cubana wavell maduro. Aw yeah!
