Liberals... please give me one example of where Bush and this administration has "trashed" the Constitution

Here is a link to the US Constitution... you may want to read it before answering.

http://www.usconstitution.net/

Update:

Wow!! It is like you libs didn't even read the Constitution OR you just don;t understand it. But hey... the Kool Aid sure tastes yummy!

Because most of you gave the spoon fed answer of "wiretapping" as expected... how about educating yourself on the ACTUAL Patriot act... once again... I'll do your homework for you.

Update 2:

http://www.cdt.org/security/usapatriot/2...

Section 201 & 202

Here you will see that the Patriot act did not change the guidelines of obtaining tha warrant... then, there were two amendments...

Terrorist Surveillance Act of 2006 - the President would be given certain additional limited statutory authority to conduct electronic surveillance of suspected terrorists in the United States subject to enhanced Congressional oversight.

Surveillence of who??? SUSPECTED TERRORISTS

Protect America Act of 2007

On July 28, 2007, President Bush called on Congress to pass legislation to reform the FISA in order to ease restrictions on surveillance of terrorist suspects where one party (or both parties) to the communication are located overseas.

Again... suspected terrorists where the communication begins or ends over seas.

Please do your own homework next time.

Update 3:

Thomas... such a list from you... we will just address yours and it should do it for most others on this list.

"Political interference by firing otherwise competent US Attorneys."

On Tuesday’s "Good Morning America," ABC anchor Robin Roberts speculated and fretted over the allegations that some U.S. attorneys were fired because they wouldn’t aggressively investigate Democrats. Roberts dramatically stated that the firings highlight "a trail that points straight to the top" and wondered "how big could this be?"

Yet when President Clinton fired 93 attorneys at the beginning of his first term, ABC never mentioned the story.

http://www.newsbusters.org/node/11390

Honestly Thomas... please point out where in the Constitution it states a President can't fire US Attorneys? He fired 8... Clinton 93... did you cry about this in 93' as well?

Condoning torture including waterboarding by refusing to condemn it.

Again... where in the Constitution?

Update 4:

I love liberals that defend terrorists and don't care about our troops. Please, show me ONE, ANY story where someone died from waterboarding? Guess what... I don't care that we perform a non-lethal or even non-physically threatening tactic to extract information to save our troops. Please... I guess you are just peachy with the treatment of our captured troops huh? I bet you haven't spoke out against that a fraction of the amount you have about waterboarding.

"Failuring to act in timely manner in the aftermath of Katrina to help poor people without resources or ability to leave."

PLEASE LEARN HOW GOVERNMENT WORKS... Again... point this out in the Constitution please...

Disasters in a city FIRST should be responded to by the Mayor... then the Governor... THEN the federal Government. How well did Naggan do? Oh... he left hundreds of busses empty and went home to get his personal effects. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ACT UNTIL THE REQUEST IS MADE.

Update 5:

BTW... Who in the heck do you think the Coast Guard is??? You know... thefirst responders with boats and choppers? Oh... is that a federal government institution? YES IT IS!

"Failing to provide sufficient manpower and equipment for military in Iraq and Afganistan, namely underprotected Hummers and lack of proper body armor."

Once again... please point out in the Constitution where this violates any of it? Hmmm... I wonder which party it is that fights, obstructs and delays all aid and support to Iraq??? Hmmm...

"Failing to call for common sacrifice for war on terrorism by refusing to ask people to chip in on taxes."

You can not be serious? Need I say show me in the constitution any longer... apply to every invalid point you made please.

How on earth do you think this war is being paid for? You think they are just printing up the money? Even borrowed money will be repaid with TAX DOLLARS.

Update 6:

Seriously....

CAN ANYONE JUST DO A LITTLE HOMEWORK HERE? ANYONE? JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH THE ACTION IT DOES NOT MEAN IT VIOLATES LAW OR THE CONSTITUTION.

HOWEVER... Lets look at things you libs want which the Constitution does not provide...

Look at the freedoms you so willingly give up. One by one. Universal health care, the right to bear arms, the right to gain employment based on skill... not quota's for your affirmative action, the right to free speech (your "fairness" doctrine), the right for parents to choose the school they wish to send their child to, and I am no smoker... but the right for a PRIVATE business to allow smoking on their premises and now it's the right for a restaraunt to cook using trans fat..... and the list goes on. So please.... yours is the party of the government care from the craddle to the grave, the party of "we know what is best for you and you don't". The party that is sprinting towards socialism. So give it a rest.

Since the domestic wiretapping that the Bush Administration has engaged in is legal the only answers you are going to get are propaganda from Democrats who are supporting Democratic Rep. Jim McDermott of Washington state who has used illegal wiretapping in an effort to discredit Republicans. This is an undisputed fact and has been established by United States Federal courts.

This same Democratic Rep. Jim McDermott of Washington state has also come out strong against the Bush administrations use of wire taping against terrorists and has claimed that the Bush administration is wrong for using "illegal wiretapping".

Apparently the use of illegal wire taps is acceptable when Democrats use it for political reasons but when the government uses it to protect the citizenry it is unacceptable.

Not only that but Democrats are supporting this criminal in his illegal wiretapping activities.

http://www.mcdermottlegaltrust.org/ for propaganda on why illegal wiretapping is okay!

Remember, these are the same people screaming about legal wiretaps and the first amendment.

    Democrats are hypocrites.

If you want to see a piece of legislation that has trashed the Constitution look at the RICO act which allows the issuance of a general warrant for evidence of criminal activities which is explicitly forbidden in the Constitution.

This warrant is obtained under the guise of "conspiracy".

The Clinton admin used RICO to impound the rigs of independent owner-operator truckers if they were pulled over by State Police and had over five hundred dollars in cash on them.

The impound was made under the guise of "large amounts of cash is evidence of criminal conspiracy".

PS: President Bush spends 70% of his budget on Domestic services spending. As a comparison President Clinton spent 50% of his budget on Domestic services spending.

Darn, those are facts easily researchable on websites like BEA.gov, gpoaccess.gov and the Congressional Record.

To bad liberals are not literate enough to do their own research and just copy and paste from propaganda websites.

  • I'm not a liberal that should be obvious by now!

Elizabeth: You must live in Jerico Kansas Be cause it seems like your fine with terrorists running free in our country and the world, But you already know that you'll be safe in Jerrico at least that is what the tv says

Jeff D And Think 1ST: the both of you need to put the laders name to use.

What do you have to hide? are you having threatening conversations with someone overseas about things of questionable nature, not to mention do you consider searching someone's person, house, papers, and effects who is suspected of terrorist activity UNREASONABLE!!!!

By the way I'm not giving thumbs down to the Bill of Rights I'm giving it to your unbelievable inturpratation of it just to paint President Bush as a criminal, when all he's doing is taking reasonable measures to make sure that even people like you can live safe at home.

In your answer you bring up probable cause and under your interpratation of probable cause police violate that amendment everyday. Police search vehicles, seize property, and arrest people without warrents everyday useing prob cause as their way around a warrent. prob cause can be decided over something they saw, or overheard.

Beleive what you want: President Bush never had to misled anyone, all he had to do was enforce a cease fire that was made 9years before and never enforced despite the terms being broke on a daily basis but he decided to apease all you people who rather side with and defend the rights of terrorists and deviants. also why do you keep referring to terrorists and deviants who support saddam, and/or osama as "so called enemy combatants" ( thats whats really despicable) If someone (saddam) came and killed your wife and children to make you serve in their military and then stored them in body bags in a hot warehouse among thousands of other bodies would you not consider that person a tirant or enemy combatant, or would he be a wonderful person who your glad to call your leader!!!!

And as for abu graib neither President Bush nor any of his adminstration were present when that happened, and you should know nothing will be admitted to untill an investigation is completed, and after it was complete the people involved were delt with appropriatly It amazes me that all you libby's will scream "innocent until proven guilty" to protect a suspected terrorist, But when it comes to the men and women in the military that put their lives on the line to protect all your freedoms you want them hung instantly without question.

And the "torture" you keep screaming about isn't torture ment to cause bodily harm such as electric shock but tactics designed to break down their phsyci so they will talk which is not illegal in any way and if that saves even one life military or civilian or anyone in my family I'll defend it till the day I die (think of it that way it helps to keep your family alive) quit thinking about your own political agenda!!! Thanks That guy once again another great question that some will never understand.

The Patriot Act violates the fourth amendment. The death penalty (all Republicans support) violates the eighth amendment. The second amendment says nothing about convicted felons which also violates the ninth as well, which Bush Sr. and Reagan put into effect. Forcing religion at public events violates the first amendment as well as the right to assembly has been ignored many times.

It's not just Bush and his administration, it's Republicans in general. They have always worked for special interest groups.

Thomas T and a few others replied with perfect answers. Besides subverting the Constitution in a whole host of ways, the most treasonous act by this administration was outing an undercover CIA agent. Even Bush 41 stated divulging this information was the most treasonous and unpatriotic perversion of all. Besides the illegal wiretapping of innocent U.S. citizens, condoning illegal torture, waging a war based on lies, undermining our economic and physical security, believing theology trumps scientific fact-- the list is endless. We can only hope the truth trumps their egregious power.

Why don't you ask: What good and great things has Bush done in this Administration?

Maybe you'd like to read the Constitution. And everything that has happened since Bush took office. You might find out that he is a greater man than you give him credit for.

I am not a liberal (except in the classical sense) but yes, I can. When he signed McCain-Feingold he violated the 1st Amendment. When he signed the No Child Left Behind Law he violated the 10th Amendment. When he signed the law creating a prescription drug entitlement he also violated the 10th Amendment.

For more examples click on the link below:

  • 1 decade ago

    suspension of habeus corpus

illegal wiretapping of it's own citizens

illegal search warrants on its own citizens

waiving due process for enemy combatants

ignoring the Geneva conventions by redefining POW as "enemy combatants"

abuse of presidential signing statements to ignore Congress

political interference in elections and voting

subverting the rule of law by using the US attorneys general to wage partisan ideological attacks on democrats and others

Abuse of Article 3 of the Constitution by accusing those who disagree with their policies of treason.

Restricting a free press by intimidation Article 1

Arbitrary detention of citizens without charges

The problem is those who still have jobs, and are going about their lives think things are "just fine" ...until THEY become the ones targetted under suspicion.

I am a conservative, but the Patriot Act takes civil liberties away from American citizens. Also war is declared by congress, not by president.

Patriot Act, it gives absolute power to the president and government over the people`s oversight. By law under the patriot act they can immunize you against your will. This is the big government that I thought Republicans feared.
