Rural America: Do you think your beliefs on guns, religion & immigration are due to bitterness?

as Obama has indicated? Many are defending his remarks by saying they're true so I'm trying to go straight to the subject individuals (those in rural areas of the US) to see if these comments ring true. When you answer, please indicate whether you are from rural America, thanks.

Update:

I understand many rural Americans have strong beliefs on guns, religion & immigration. But the question is, are these beliefs due to bitterness as Obama suggests.

Update 2:

Here's the Reuters quote: "'You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them,' the Illinois senator, said. 'And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations'"

I have a pistol for protection, a shotgun and rifle for hunting. I go to church about 2times a month, should go more, but I go because I hear the truth in it, and for the atheists out there prepared to give me a thumbs down for that remark I don't take the Bible literally. I am upset with illegal immigration, not just immigration in general. If you get here legally I have one thing to say "WELCOME TO AMERICA!"

It is so pathetic how everyone twists the words of someone during elections.People of Rural America have very strong beliefs in Religion, right to bear arms, and see the massive influx of immigrants as an invasion of there home land.We depend on are Government to protect are rights and keep aliens out of are country its why we vote in the first place. Are we bitter about are rights being taken away (Dam right)are we bitter about jobs going over seas (same answer) Most all of us out here are wondering if anyone in Washington is awake. What do you think $4.00 gas is going to do to the food prices that rural America produces. If you think I'm going to vote for more of the same, your wrong.

    signed, Mr.Rural America

My beliefs on guns is that it takes a long time for law enforcement to get us. Snakes can kill you. The Constitution allows me to have them. I do military style competition shooting.

Religion, I don't how that matters I live out here to enjoy nature.

As a small business owner in the construction fields and have Illegals under biding the jobs take food out of my crews mouths. I don't mind getting beat by others that live in the American style. The Illegals will put five or six people in a two bed room mobile home, while my crew have their own homes or apartments. The average cost of a home here is $200,000 rent is $1500 divide that by six and their over head is much less. Would you like to live like an illegal or an American in your own place? My crew members want to live with their wives, kids and not five other guys.

It a way of life that Obama has not a clue about. Where he was raised, guns were for killing other people,we use ours for hunting rabbits, deer, ect. fot the dinner table. Religion comes in many forms, most rural folks practice good old fashioned Bible believing Christanity. Obamas back round suggest radial, perverted versions of the word od God,delivered by a vile ungodly pastor. We are all immigrants,or should I say desended from them, unless you are Native American. To put it bluntly, politicians "trash" what ever is a popular concept to whom they are adressing at the time. Trust none of them. Yes,I am from rural America.

No, I think that he has a negative view of anyone who disagrees with him. Surely if you don't fall into his line of thinking you're a raving idiot with no intelligence.

Gun laws are in a good place right now, the worst of the guns are regulated very tightly as it is, leave well enough alone.

Religion is the right of all citizens. You can believe in whatever deity you wish, including none without fear of reprisal.

Immigration is not about keeping people from other nations from coming here. It is about asking that they abide by the regulations that are put in place to ensure that they come here legally and become contributing members of the public.

No he did not say that. What he said was that Guns, religion, and immigration are subjects people are voting for. When Washington has taken the jobs and sent them overseas, then just tossed the people aside they become bitter and angry. They have seen this kind of Washington for 25 years. The are bitter.

Missy, why was Guliani lying to the NRA then that he supported gun right? Why do gay rights conveniently become a hot topic every election? Why do Republicans like to bring up abortion and supreme court justices?

Because they know the economy and war are BAD ISSUES to run on.

Obama was just pointing out that it's easier to get people to the polls on hot topic issues than things every political expert says and never delivers on.

Obama is another elitist liberal who has no clue about middle America. It's his belief that he knows what's best for me more than I do is what's dividing America.

I am from a rural county in Maryland & people who believe in guns etc. are bitter people they are always blaming the man for their problems. I don't need a gun, etc. I am the power in my life. I take responsibility for myself. Just go to any rural town & see how bitter gun owners are. Owning a gun doesn't come from feeling sweetness in life.
