How long after you lose your mucous plug do you start labor?

I'm 37 weeks. I've been having stronger than normal Braxton Hicks, but not strong enough do assume labor. I've lost my mucous plug like a few hours ago and had mild bleeding. I've also had bad diarrhea. I've also had a history of pre term labor and my cervix was dilated to 1/2 a centimeter on Friday night.

you may be in the early stages of labor diarrhea in very common for alot of women in the beginning stages of labor sorta the body's way of clearing out to get ready for labor just pay attention to the pains and if they worsen or get close together on a regular timing you might want to go in , best of luck to you sometimes this can go really quick or sometimes in can take awhile. May God be with you and baby!!

I'm 37 weeks 2 cms dialated and 80% effaced and lost my mucus plug two weeks ago...So it doesn't really mean anything. Though it sounds like you may be going soon with the mild bleeding and diarrhea..but you never know!

I lost part of my plug 2 weeks ago and the rest (I think) about 5 days ago. Still having some BH and dilated to 3cm 11/2 weeks ago. So yep, you can go a while!

Losing your mucus plug is no indication of when it will happen, some women lose their plugs very early & still carry to term...if you happen to lose it before your body is prepared to give birth, it simply grows back. I lost mine a whole week before I went into labor.
