Who benefits the most by dividing us into warring political ideologies?

Do the American people benefit by having our voices heard and our issues resolved or do the politicians benefit by ensuring their re-election?

    The rabbit hole goes deeper than that I'm afraid, my friend. I wish it was about re-election and secure tenure for these criminals, that I could live with at least it would show we are the competitive plutocracy a good capitalist system should be.

    There is one passage from the declaration of independence that the power elite are most afraid of. You know it but I will share for the less informed masses: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

    We fought and died for these words a couple centuries ago. But all government invriably leads to these ends. It is the nature of man to attempt to control other men, to herd them toward your goals. And we have seen in roughly the last hundred years a trend toward despotism. Maybe even longer, its possible we have been heading this way since day one.

    In a desperate effort to retain their power and move civilization in the direction of their liking, they have to keep the ignorant masses ignorant. They divide us with surface issues and we fight for these beliefs. Abortion rights in this country will never change, the states will not ratify any amendment and the power elite love us aborting our children because it controls the population of "their" planet. There will never be an amendment to define marriage, again the power elite like homosexual relationships because those rarely lead to offspring and "their" planet is thus less populated. But it is these surface issues that keep us at odds.

    The political left believes education and healthcare should be available to the masses, a noble sentiment, but the only way to accomplish this is giving government control over it, thus giving the government more control of our lives. As we have witnessed since government has been given the reigns of our education system it has become a travesty and we have become vastly more ignorant for it. Again a win-win for the political and power elite. Dumber masses are easier to control than educated ones.

    They are afraid of us, the people, we can together bring their whole house of cards crashing down, so they have to insure our complacency and ignorance. So they create these issues, that most people would never create for themselves and drive a wedge between us.

    I don't care about abortion, why should I, I hate that children die because of adult irresponsibilty, but such is the nature of any animal. I could care less who you love and want to marry, it is beneath me to be concerned by that.

    You call your self a liberal and I stand staunchly behind my conservatism but at the end of the day we agree far more than we disagree, why are we divided? You want the best for your country as do I, the power elite see only what's best for them and that is why they must keep us divided.

    The candidate running on the political ideology with the largest number of registered voters. Politicians make more than the average Joe, and if elected, get an annual retirement that betters the lower class' lifetime earnings.

    The issues aren't resolved, and politicians continually make promises only to "forget" about them once they are elected. The true beneficiary of the partisan bickering is the billionaires in the back rooms that are donating to both political parties and ensuring that they will not be taxed, will not have to worry about the environment or fair labor practices, and will continue to make hundreds of billions of dollars in profit.

    Do you remember when it got so crazy that anybody who spoke out about a budget item was denounced as aiding the terrorists, when "you're with us or against us" was taken to fanatical fascist extremes here at home?

    There was a time I was worried about this country. We're on the mend now, but it's going to take time, and there's a lot of struggling ahead caused by the crap that unleashed.

    When we're busy pointing our fingers at each other, we have no time to spare for our elected officials. It reminds me of 1984. We're too busy fighting amongst ourselves to care about anything else.
