What can men do to avoid being raped by other men ?

Many people think that rape and sexual assault can only happen to women. But about three percent of American males have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime, according to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, in Washington, D.C.

Most victimizers of males are other males, who force their victims to have anal or oral penetration, and often beat them. Male sexual victimization is rarely talked about, and many myths about male rape and sexual assault contribute to the silence.

“Our ’macho’ culture declares that males, even young boys, are not supposed to be victims of assault.”

I notice a focus on what women should do to avoid being raped (blame the victim), while the fact that men are also victims is completely ignored.

- if it's fair to ask what women should do to avoid being victimized, then there must be things that men should be doing to avoid victimization too.

Update:

Hey Chas, yes, but that isn't stopping some 3% of men from being subdued in attack. Do you think maybe men in general are in denial about this?

Update 2:

Silver - the 3% is of the non-prison population.

Pretty much the same things that women can do to avoid being raped by men.

Have a little common sense, be aware of your surroundings, and don't do stupid **** with stupid people. I haven't been raped (so far), so apparently it's working pretty well.

Not the same ballgame Pan......it's a lot different for men. We're much stronger and able to defend ourselves by virtue of our rough tough upbringing.

Lots of difference in an attempt to rape a guy. As to avoiding dangerous situations, we're all taught those things, boys and girls, from an early age. Boys are, by nature, NOT submissive creatures and are much less likely to be intimidated by an attacker.

  • Excellent question and I often point this out when I answer questions about rape in here.

I really wonder if antifeminists realise that wanting to weaken rape laws hurts themselves. I wonder if they would feel the same if they were raped. In fact I asked that but unfortunately my question got reported by some insecure males.

Same thing as a woman, learn self defense, avoid uncomfortable situations, and confidence.

    1. Stay out of prison

    2. Beat the crap out of anyone who tries to rape you
