Who is the illustrator for "My Book of Bible Stories"?

I appreciated the book when I was a kid only for the illustrations, I really liked them, I just skipped the text.

Why don't they give credit to the illustrator(s)?

Besides, JW publications have a very particular style, which makes me believe ALL the illustrations are made by one person. This is probably not true, but I wonder, why keep him/her/them in the shadows?

It has been many decades since the publications of Jehovah's Witnesses have credited the writers and illustrators by name. The current practice directs attention to Jehovah God rather than to some human.

Incidentally, it would hardly be possible for a single artist to create all the illustrations necessary for the publications of Jehovah's Witnesses, and in fact dozens of different artists have been commissioned to create artwork over the decades.

Currently, most of the art is created and prepared for publication at the Watchtower Educational Center in Patterson, New York. The public is invited to tour that facility, and at times an artist or two is available to answer specific questions, as a particular tour group moves past that area. An interested person could discuss his questions with the tour guide early during the tour.

Well, I did my best. I pretty much went all over the map, into different entries for this and that... looking for the illustrator of "My Book of Bible Stories."

There is never any credit given other than to 'Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania.'

I looked at the first bible of this sort put out, in '78, and see the same listing, pretty much. They are listed as the authors, too.

The publisher for the '06 paperback edition is:

La Torre del Vigia, A. R.

    The ISBN-10: 970870435

You could perhaps write this publisher.

For the '78 edition (unknown publisher) use the AISN: B000BJJ3RQ.

Wikipedia only says this collection of stories for youngsters was first published in '78, and had a revision in '04, which only included minor changes, "mainly a new cover," and questions at the end of each story to help children think about them.

It's possible that if you follow Wiki again, and maybe click on those authors/illustrators or a particular link that I couldn't quite identify, you may have use for the ISBN and AISN #s, which are very revealing for most books.

My strongest suggestion is that you take this info (the numbers) to a public library and ask a reference librarian what he/she can do with them to find out information for you.

    Hope something works for you.

PS. A very many authors as well as illustrators are 'kept in the shadows,' often because they agree to do the work in the position of a 'ghostwriter' or 'ghostillustrator' --accepting a fee and that's the end of it.

This is sometimes done because a well-known person is asked to do something by a studio/publisher or --a church-- and he/she doesn't quite 'fit the picture' for that studio/publisher --or church-- or sometimes the other way around...

Source(s): ADD: I was already at the JW official site. There is no info there that you're seeking... I, personally, highly doubt that 'hundreds' of illustrators did the pictures for the book in question. I've seen them. No, no hundreds, and probably not more than one.

I'm a Jehovah's Witness, and its not just one artist, there are many, hundreds in fact, that help with the art work of each of our publications. If you want check out www.watchtower.org. It is the official site of Jehovah's Witnesses.
