Why do folks like to vote "thumbs down?"?

I generally stopped using that button after I made a few regrettable errors (maybe some of you folks don't make any errors). Unless someone is advocating violence or obnoxious behavior, I am generally willing to let folks speak their minds without jumping on the "thumbs down." I may disagree, but at least I am articulate enough to disagree using words and complete sentences and not just pound on the keyboard. Seems sort of immature.

Larry, If I had a nickel for every "Thumbs Down" I got on a correct answer, well - I'd have a heck of a lot of nickels!! :)

I definately have a personal troll (I know who it is) who gives me a thumbs down everytime I answer a question about cosmology... There are other trolls out there who give every TC a thumbs down just for fun...

I gotta admit, one of my favorite things to have happen, is to get a bunch of "Thumbs down" only to have either the Asker rate my answer as best, or to have the voters do it.

As far as immaturity is concerned, take a look on the Singles and Dating site if you want to get an eyeful... :)

Take care - I always love your answers...

The safety of anonymity allows the meanness in people to come out, uninhibitedly! The 'thumb down' has its place IMHO.

If a student is seeking the best answer or solution, the thumb down post is regarded as an indication of an erroneous response, or that it is not germane to his or her topic. Extremely poor spelling and grammar, throughout a post, SHOULD warrant a TD.

Lawfully expresses their disagreements. Trust me if you tried to disagree using words, they will easily just pound on the keyboard and report you. Immature but wise.
