Nabokov or Boucher?

Nabokov's SV% is .837 in this series and .883 for the entire the playoffs and he's being clearly outplayed by Turco.

Anyone else think Wilson sat Nabokov the last 3 minutes of the game in preparation for starting Boucher in game #3 in Dallas?

Update:

I don't think Wilson was resting Nabokov and his top lines as much as he was letting lesser players get some playoff ice time. The teams don't play again until Tuesday and I assume the Sharks won't be flying out until tomorrow morning.

I agree with most of you... you stick with your starter. Though if Nabby continues his poor play and the Sharks lose game #3, I can't see Wilson starting him in game #4 down 0-3.

I'd be very surprised if he started anybody but Nabokov the rest of the way.

All I can say for Nabokov is be thankful that the Vezina voting is done, otherwise you're going backwards!

I don't envy San Jose going into Dallas down 2

No. Even though I think Ron Wilson isn't that great of a coach, I liked what he did w/ switching goalies. The announcers made a comment about this as well. I think he pulled Nabby in order to get a timeout without taking an official "timeout". Notice that he pulled Nabby with 2 or 3 min. left in the game, and Boucher wasn't in longer than 10 seconds before he headed to the bench for the extra skater. I think Wilson was trying to rest his players, then, if they managed to score a goal with the extra attacker, he could then take his official timeout and come up with a play. Nabokov will start the rest of the series.

Honestly, I was hoping they would start Boucher today. 2 goals on 15 shots game 1? Come on. Nabokov has made some great saves since the playoffs have started, but has canceled them out by allowing too many soft goals. I'd like to see what Boucher can do. Going down 2-0 in a series, something has got to change.

Hopefully...I would rather have Boucher in net than Nabokov.

    Seriously, Wilson should consider.

If Nabokov wins the Vezina Trophy this year, he should thank his defense. They do not really give up a lot of shots and they are a great team...so that gives Nabokov a good G.AA and Wins. But Nabby is playing terrrible with his .883 this playoffs. Nabokov is a sloppy goaltender.

I'd start Boucher in game 3. Nabby is just not getting it done. Why do we get the 2003-04 shut-out king Boucher during the trade deadline if not for these times?

Game 3 is critical, Wilson needs to make some changes in the line especially in goal.

Nabokov is a Vezina finalist. No way in Game 3 do you start Boucher who started all of 3 games for the Sharks this season.

Except Boucher wasn't in for 3 minutes...he came in, stretched, and they pulled him for an extra attacker...worked well, the Stars scored an empty netter. IMO, they should have left Nabby in if they were going to pull the goalie. I didn't get that at all, unless Wilson was trying to send Nabby a message.

Source(s): And I should have read boozer before posting mine. I missed the announcers stating why Wilson did that, I just came in the room when it happened. Thanks for the explanation, that makes more sense.

    No, you stick with Nabokov.

Nabby has been horrible this series. What has gotten into him? Usually he's there to make an ugly play, a pretty play....but this series, an ugly defensive collapse is all thats needed for a goal. Nabby has done nothing to bail his team out or keep the team in it. Michalek was missing for much of the Calgary series but has finally found his stroke. I hope this series Nabby isn't the one that disappears because that would be worse than the missing Michalek.

No. Just extra rest as he prepares for Game #3. 0 chance that Boucher will be in......we are talking about Boucher who spent most of the season in the AHL vs. a Vezina finalist. This isn't like the Theodore situation where you have 2 B goalies. They have an A and a B. They go with A.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Boucher was put in the next game. i think the only reason he came in this game was to shake the guys up. The loss wasn't all Nabby's fault. Of course it is the goalies sole job is to not let the puck in the net but his guys weren't helping much either.
