NY-Style Pizza in San Francisco?

Where can I get some good New York style pizza in San Francisco? Ideally, I'd like to find a place that has slices like Famous Ray's. (And no, Amici's is not like Famous Ray's...)

Don't know who Famous Ray is but this is good stuff. Thin, hand spun crust:

    It's on Geary and 20th.

Or this place uses a wood fired oven (old school):

Famous Ray's, Totonno's, Lombardi's, Grimaldi's..... I seriously miss these pizzerias in NYC, ever since I left Long Island in the 80's..... I enjoyed them once more last October, but wish I could have it more often here in San Mateo, CA.

No, there are no pizzerias in the San Francisco area except for Toto's in San Mateo, San Carlos and San Bruno that is a tiny bit close to what NY pizza tastes and looks like. Coal and high temperature brick ovens are non-existent here in California because of the environmental restrictions.

You can't. Lots of places claim NY style pizza, but as someone who lived on NY pizza for a long time, SF just doesn't have anything close. Escape from NY is probably the closest equivalent, but it's a pretty poor imitation (although I enjoy the pizza when not compared to NY).

Escape from NY Pizza on Haight between Cole and Shrader. It has large slices of thin crust pizza and it is the closest I have found. Too bad they don't serve bagels....

Take it from an ex-New Yorker, the only option is Arinell, 509 Mission. Escape from NY is OK, but Arinell is the best you'll do. There is an Arinell in Berkeley, too.
