Society is what makes any word taboo. I never get offended at someones language.

a cuss word is just any word deemed inappropriate by your bond group. These are just frond upon and it is believed that you are less mature or refined if you use them. A "curse word" is a word actually used towards another person, these are words that show anger or make threats or defame a person. All the bible refers to is using the lord's name in vain - by which it means silly ways, or ways that are for ill use - such as god damn you - I have no right to ask the lord to damn you, and I am using it in anger to take vengions out - this would be wrong according to the bible - however, since I am an ordained reverend, I do have the power to banish 1 soul to hell.

What gets me are all of the legitimate words that are considered taboo.

I think it is all about taboos.

The more religious, repressed and under the control of a minority a society is the more taboos they enforce.

Look up the word for a female dog. It is a proper term and in the fictionary. However it is a word banned by USA as a cuss word.

When you ban words all you do is give *them more power over you.

It is not the word itself, but the way it is used that makes it a "cuss" word. Our answers are to be "yes" and "no" and leave off the dangs, the shoots and all the other expletives. Also, to say good grief - we are taking a representative of God, "good" and using it as a word for God. Expletives using "good", "goodness" and others are representing God.

Therefore, these words you mention, are as wrong as saying the words of God, etc.

Actually, the only true cuss words are those that take God's name in vain The rest are just bad words because society says thay are. However I believe you are right, if you substitute one word for another bad word it is not better but it may or may not sound better in public. As for me, I try to stay away from all so called bad words because they are not necessary and they cheapen the person using them. God wants us to be good examples.

Yes, I thought of the exact same thing, like poop, and shxt. Society totally decided what cuss words are, and it is pretty stupid because you can say something totally more insulting and yet it still is not considered a cuss word.

If you can say a word and be able to give that word to God to bless then I do not think it is a cuss word. But can you really say it and have it bring honor and glory to God? same goes for alcohol nd food. Do all this to the glory and honor to God!!

im not sure... but one time i seen a younger woman with a baby. the baby was probably around 2 or 3.... anyway, this woman was sitting with the baby on her lap talking on a cell phone. the woman was casually talking but she was fond on using cuss words. every time the woman would swear, i could see the baby wince. somehow that innocent child could sense vulgarity of her mothers words.

i no longer swear in front of children.

It's what society considers a cuss word.

It's not actually the word itself....it is the thought associated with that word. This why I believe that censorship is wrong. When censors want to control word usage, they are in fact trying to control human thought.

    Leave my mind alone!

I think it becomes a cuss word when it becomes offensive. Remember the Don Imus incident?
