Is this why Obama tries to appeal to young people?

I was driving, when I heard one of those stupid Obama commercials on the radio, one where they fail to mention any of his plans to be an effective president, but have young people talk about how he was against the war from the begining, is "connected to our issues," "can offer change," "can be believed in," and "can fix our nation." It was at this moment it hit me: Obama is trying to appeal to the young/new voter base, because he feels they are too stupid to understand politics, and therefore would vote for him. Does anyone agree?

Update:

umpiresweet, aside from your atrocious lack of punctuation, and horrible use of the English language, I would like to point out another facet of your ignorance. I never said anything about an issue in my question. All I want is a PLAN. Not hope, or change, but a functional, concrete plan.

He's appealing to young voters because they aren't already brainwashed by the right wing.

Yes. One of the oldest tricks in the book.

By presenting numerous 'testimonies' of young people who apparently support him, Obama can create the illusion that that support is widespread and popular, without having to provide any 'proof' or justification.

This is the same strategy that is widely utilized in the infomercials that are often broadcast at 3 am. Example: "If all these other people like it so much, maybe I should buy some too."

maximum older people in Iowa probable have not got genuine fond thoughts of the Nineteen Sixties, particularly in the event that they lived there all their lives. figuring out Ms. Clinton with the Nineteen Sixties could be a great physique of innovations. via the way, i'm fifty 4 and the consistent turmoil of that factor has continuously left a depressing, bitter aftertaste with me. further later: The older people in Iowa probable won't be able to stand each individual who held intense liberal perspectives from that factor era. Is that sparkling sufficient? further Later: No i do no longer locate people who went by way of that factor era have an exceptionally nicely counseled view of politics or the worldwide. as a rule i've got got here upon that they simply carry the comparable previous out-moded worldwide view that has failed. Their formerly prejudices have remained extremely consistent. i assume we can in simple terms could conform to disagree. If this injury Mr. Obama i do no longer think of it particularly is amazingly considerable. or maybe this has extra to do with the NYT's prejudices than we are prepared to confess. My very final addition: according to risk there is too plenty emphasis located on little extra suitable than a straw poll in a small Midwestern state? Or probably as a exchange of awareness won from age i've got in simple terms extra suitable my cynicism?

Yes but it is a stupid plan since the young generally are all talk and no vote.

  • 1 decade ago

I agree...he talks the talk but has no "plans" to "change" anything....

And all these inexperienced, undereducated kids are going to get sucked right in. But, as usual, come election day, they'll all be too busy at the mall or being hungover to actually go out and vote anyway.

All politicians have similar messages, not Obama only. Are you a Clinton supporter? Sure sounds like one,

  • 1 decade ago

You hit the nail on the head. He has courted the young vote because he knows that they have yet to experience life, therefore, they do not know how to vote based on issues.

  • 1 decade ago

Exactly. He is trying to appeal to their emotions. He's a joke. He's had no concrete plans to unveil showing how he would "change" or "unify" anything.

We need a leader who has been proven capable above anything and can turn our country around, not Obama

i wouldnt say young people are stupid.

they just prefer to vote for someone they can identify with.

they probably see mccain as their grandfather and hillary as mother figures.

plus many of the women werent around to see how oppressed women were and are so they have no sense of the importance of voting for a woman for president. and not just a woman but a great woman like hillary.

absolutely. All i hear is "change" and "hope". I have yet to see what change is being offered or what hopes are justified. I found no answers on his campaign site, and of course the various debates are a joke.

  • 1 decade ago

Pretty much. Brack has aimed his campign towards the youth of america, and common people of the U.S. neither of which are that intelligent. If they hear someone that offers "hope" and "change" they are naive enough to believe it.
