How do you track someone down with very little information?
The last I heard from my half-sister was a wedding invitation my family received eight years ago or more (I would have been a preteen or younger). So the only information I have is her given name, the name of the man she was getting married to, her stepfather's last name, the first names of her first two kids, and the general area that she lived in for awhile before she got married. I've tried searching every phone directory on the internet--got 1 hit on the husband's name that didn't pan out. I've tried searching for her on a couple of myspace-like sites. I've even tried just websearching her name. And I haven't been able to come up with anything. How do P.I.'s do it? How do I find my sister?
I don't think she graduated high school, and she lived about 100 miles away, so I know absolutely nothing about her friends. I only used to see her at Christmas and summer vacation.

There are non profit organizations that help reunite families.
Also, if you know where here children were born, that will be registed in the public birth of records at the court house in that county.
Are there any records around your house left over all these years that might contain her social security number? That will get you any info you want.
You can get companies on the net to do a search and add a criminal background search which might turn up something even if it was a speeding ticket,
Try running an add in the paper where you are for anyone with info to help you find your sisiter to contact you. Put in some specifics and be patient.
If you know the year she graduated, you can go on classmates.com and serach her school and see if she is a member.
Try to remember local friends she had and contact them and ask if they have any ideas.
It can be done but is might prove difficult yet it might be easier than you think. I am an ex legal investigator and if you would like to contact me at jeb5775 on yahoo, I certainly would try to help you in anyway I could at no cost.
Good Luck and I believe yoy will find her, but also do not be disappointed if she does not want to be found. Good Luck Jackie b
