This is a legit question I promise!!!!?
LoL I didn't sound so convincing did I?
But really, it is a serious question....
Being here in R&S we are surrounded by similar AND opposing belief systems along with those who don't even have a belief system....
WITHOUT revealing your religion or lack thereof, answer the following question please;
Has R&S helped to solidify your current beliefs, caused some doubt in your current beliefs but not enough to change them, or made you question your beliefs to the point of changing them? Please do feel free to explain your answer.

i constantly challenge what i believe to be true not in order to divest myself of belief but as a way of becoming one with what is really true. to no extent has R&S caused me to doubt. in fact, much of my r&s experience has been positively reinforcing for what i believe to be true because it has validated for me that much of what i believe to be true as a system of universal patterns is and the little that i believe to be true that isn't is revealed to me from moment to moment by each moment in which i believe something to be true that is not.
why do i feel like i just answered a question on the final exam at Enlightenment 101.

The only thing it has done to me is make me understand just how many ignorant by choice people there really are out there . I mean that they are either scared to death of the truth about how things are put together and work or are so intellectually lazy that they refuse to even listen to it .
Kind of frightening to me to think that these people if faced with a complete collapse of the world economy would burn people like me at the stake as a witch if I bathed or tried to help them climb out of barbarism .
Everything that would happen to them would become " god's will " and a punishment for some imagined " sin " . These people are so ignorant they couldn't produce black powder because they don't know what the ingredients are or how to find them .
This is frightening to me because I know how to produce smokeless powder from scratch and also how to make 2 types of primers with several formulas for the ignition base . I also understand how to make or repair a lot of other modern devices or even increase crop yields . This is knowledge that would save lives and they would kill me for having it .
You might not think I am being serious but I am this would not be the first time in history this has happened .
Source(s): John D right above me proves my point he refers to me as brainwashed while he believes the Flintstones is the history channel . He can't even believe that most of us have read his bible and found it to be complete nonsense . He won't even read that he depends on the word of people like Falwell and Haggard or even Hovind for their version of the truth . - Anonymous1 decade ago
What it has done is given me a window into the thinking of people who are different than me. It hasn't changed my thinking but it is interesting to read other people's struggles and to see how those like me are perceived. What it does reaffirm is that it is really important to present my thoughts in as respectful a way as possible. Ripping at anyone for having opposing viewpoints is pointless and counter productive. There is a lot of hatred and anger out there.
My hope is still that more people will feel free to answer a question with their thoughts and not need to insult those that think differently. I have cringed at reading some of the things written by people who should know better.
I need to be the change I want to see.

To every aspect of your question, yes, yes, yes.
My beliefs are and always will be a growing process that must be approached with an open heart and open mind. The statement, "Knowledge is power" is true in the spiritual sense as well.

Y!A R&S hasn't made me change my basic worldview; it helps me solidify it somewhat.
It does highlight some of the disadvantages of my beliefs, as opportunities for me to explore and make minor tweaks. But no earth-shattering changes.

it hasn't changed my beliefs or increased doubt. it's made me realise that i needed to learn a great deal more about different faiths and that, if i am to have any kind of dialogue with anyone about religiosity or spirituality, i need to better understand why i believe what i believe and to more clearly articulate my personal ideology. it has also made me see that to have those concepts challenged is a good thing - they need to be able to stand up to anything which gets thrown at them.
it has also greatly sparked my interest in the current debate between science and religion. thanks for your question. peace be with you :)

Depends on how you look at it.
I wouldn't really give R&S credit for my changing beliefs.
It was, however, partly due to meeting people and talking with them one on one and seeing things from a different perspective.

R&S hasn't changed my opinion about my own beliefs.
It has certainly made me realize that one group that I thought initially fell under the heading of benignly stupid is in fact just plain actively MEAN, and makes me VERY glad I got out of it.

Been on R&S for a month now and what it has done for me is confirm my beliefs that mankind will allways fight for what they believe in...no matter how ridiculous their beliefs may sound to others.

Has given my beliefs no change whatsoever. It has been good for a few laughs though.
