What makes a country matter anyway? The ability to invade others illegally? Being the number one favorite hate figure in the world? America isn't all about freedom, democracy, liberty, and opportunity or it wouldn't have been operating "extraordinary rendition" or "enhanced interrogation techniques" otherwise known as kidnap and torture. Where's the liberty in that? The facts are that Norway is better as people have a better quality of life, they expect to live longer and healthier, they have a higher income (and less inequality) and they have better educational standards (as your post makes clear the US does not). Yes god bless America, with gun crime rates that make any European wonder if they're in the 3rd world. With levels of inequality unrivaled by Europe. With people dying because they don't have access to universal healthcare. The only advanced industrial nation that doesn't offer some form of universal healthcare, and doesn't protect a workers right to vacation. Where "cruel and unusual punishment" is still practiced, where you execute people for crimes committed when they were teenagers and often on flawed evidence. In there recent Norwegian elections turn out was 76.4%, in the US Presidential election last year it was 63.6%, so where's your democracy when people don't even bother to vote? America has the highest prison population rate in the world, in fact it accounts for almost half of all the people in prison in the world. Sound like liberty to you? The US ranks No 44 out of 134 measured by inequality whereas Norway is the 131st least equal country, so where's your opportunity, where's your freedom? If you took your head out your **** for a minute you'd realise that the US isn't really such a nice place to live unless you're rich, white and male.

If this were as you seem to think, the most prosperous, free, incredible, greatest country in the world, it's name would be France, Sweden, Norway, or the Netherlands. Not the USA. You view was once true, but that was over 30 years ago. Reaganomics and international interventionist policies have f*cked this country up so bad it's no longer what you think.

In a word---YES!
God bless America!
@Eclectic: This is a free country and you are certainly free to leave! Just pick one of those other countries and go---it's simple really, not a complicated concept at all.
Quit whining and start packing...
By the way, Reaganomics saved this country from the disaster left by the totally inept Presidency of Jimmy "Hamas" Carter!

Y E S ! ! ! ! ... AND ... AGREED !!!!
CHANGE is ALL that you will get back from the Socialist/Communist/Liberal Democrats, when they TAKE your hard earned paycheck from you to give it to able bodied people, "FEEDERS", who do NOT want to get off of their butts and actually get a job !! Our wonderful government hand-out programs !!
Please, TRY to HOPE in one hand and SPIT in the other hand!
Which one is filling up the fastest ??
.
We need to make sure that the person that represents AMERICA is PRO-AMERICA !!!
WE NEED to make sure that EVERY man, woman, and child, KNOW how ANTI-AMERICAN Obama and his Reverend(S) ARE !!!
Would a CONTINUAL 20 years of "second hand smoke" have a negative affect on the other people in the area ??
Would a CONTINUAL 20 years of "Anti-American Preachings" have a negative affect on the other people in the area ??
John F. Kennedy, a Democrat, was sworn in as the 35th President of THE United States of America, at noon on January 20, 1961. In his inaugural address he spoke of the NEED for ALL Americans to be ACTIVE CITIZENS, famously saying, "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
Please NOTICE that it said DEMOCRAT - NOT Socialist and / or Communist Democrat !!
It means this country is only as strong as the people in it. It means get off your a$$ and do something!!!
.
The Democratic Elite make the rules and then they change them for their convenience !!
The Elite Democrats feel like THEY know better than YOU who would be the best person to run the country !!!
By the People and For the People !!!

What country are you talking about?
If you are talking about the USA then someone needs to let you in on something. The supremacy of the US is fleeting. China and India are the new big players in the world's economy. Money is power and we are running out of both. Once the US loses its dominance the world will be run by countries that aren't even democratic. I don't want things to change but everything has changed, you just haven't seen it yet. Once OPEC stops selling oil in dollars and China uncouples its currency from ours, we will be in free-fall. I give us 10 years, tops.

I love my country.
For all the Dems heres food for thought, lobbiest were to be thrown out when Pelosi took the Speaker, right, (going to drain the swamp)
So powerful is the plaintiffs lawyers lobby in Congress that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is forsaking a bill passed unanimously in the House for a more lawsuit-friendly version of the proposal that was approved with anything but unanimity by the Senate.

Dont tell me you really think they will change anything

We are not what we used to be. The Patriot Act and No Child Left Behind, our federal deficit, the Iraq War, extra powers for the FBI and CIA, the creation of Homeland Security...so many things have made us less free and more dependent on government than ever before. Both parties are responsible for this mess, and yes, we do need change.

The one true honest answer is yes, I do. However, I also believe that we have some improvements to make, such as returning to the time when I could meet my wife at the gate of the airport without going through security.

Ok... You were born a baby right...??
Maybe you should have stayed that way.... Why would your mother want you to change???
Do you understand my point??
I was one of the founding fathers because I wanted this country to grow and "change" I never wanted things to say exactly the same....
I am not quite an Obama supporter, I am on the fence between him and Hillary, but I will never vote McCain... I'd rather have Ron Paul than McCain....

YES I AM!
The democrats aren't wanting changes to our liberties, freedom or, as you put it, greatness. They want change to the way our government runs things, democracy should be Of the People, for the people and by the people, but right now its of the rich, for the rich and by the rich...thats not what we stand for and we need that restored.
by the way, the big whigs in washington dont make this country great, its the citizens here that does. all the dems want is a little bit more of that. not so much to ask for in the greatest country in the word.
