The only reason it won't partition is if you don't have enough hard disk space left. You'll need about 20 GB to be set aside.

I installe dhtis on leopard not so long ago, i partitioned it using bootcamp assistant in utilities. It took like 10 mins then it was done. An alternative would be to create one using the mac disk utility, be aware this program is capble of deleting all of your files though.
