Yearly bleeding cycle? Time off work? You do know that dog have a heat cycle every 6 months right? Why a week off work? Your dog will bleed for about 11-13 days and then be in full heat. (then you have to watch her for another 5-7 days)... that is when she will be in full heat and can get pregnant...

As for all the other stuff for what purpose? your dog doesnt need all that, she is not in pain and she will be fine with out it. Pads for that? where are you going to put them?

You can get a "doggy diaper" to protect your furniture while she is bleeding or "bloomers". but I wouldnt bother unles you know she wont pull it off an eat it.

    Your female will be fine.

get her spayed and you wont have to worry about all this.

Mum tad of an over reaction. Time off from work is overkill and dang if I know what you would do with the other stuff (all my comfort loving dogs (including the males) would all be thrilled with warms blankets & pillows at any time but hardly NEED them to "get through" a heat cycle- some hardly seem to know anything is happening. You need to keep her away from males and either protect your furniture & rugs with throws or "b1tches britches" on the dog but honestly thats it.

And by the way the heat cycle is THREE weeks - usually every 6 months

If this is about the female heat cycle which lasts about three weeks, then the dog will usually take care of herself. Some dogs will show a temperment change and few especially the first heat may cramp some. To keep your furnishings clean, you might want to cover them with old blankets or have the dog wear some doggy panties. Keep the dog away from other dogs especially intact males unless you are wanting a litter of puppies. You might also want to consider having her desexed as a heat cycle can be a pain in the rear to manage unless you plan for it.

Have her spayed. Not only will you not have to deal with the inconvenience (staining, male dogs, etc.), but she will be healthier. Even if she is an "inside" dog, there's always the chance of a litter of pups. Spaying is relatively inexpensive but is the responsible thing to do.

god this sounds serious. you dont need any of the items you list above. Just keep her out of contact with male dogs, give her a little tlc and you certainly do not need to take time off work.

You don't really need to do anything. The dog knows how to take care of itself. Just protect your furniture from being stained.
