Sweet corn season has started - and everywhere there is a trash can next to the sweet corn because many folks husk the corn right there in the store and if there is not trash provided they throw the husks back in the display. WHY? it's not like they peal their bananas or oranges.....

leafing through the stash of takeout menus in works cafeteria and it seems nearly half the Pizza, sandwich ect, places ALSO sell indian dishes. Is this becoming a national fad? a local (MD) one? or simply a number of proprietors from that area of the world?
2 AnswersEthnic Cuisine7 years agolooking for a crate distributor?
I recall a large dog supply distributor had their own crate- a type where the door folded in half & slide up against he inside top. this is not the midwest ovation crate that the whole door sides up without folding & goes on outside top.
unfortunately
I forget the distributor - anyone have an idea?

4 AnswersDogs7 years agorescuers is this really common?
I had a foster dog in my house (mainly because I was the one who could get to him in timely manner) He was chucked outta a home (get this thing outta here NOW) on the claim he and snapped at /lunged at the 13 yr old son. he was totally non-agressive - they only senerio I can buy is he was pushed into a total panic or being hurt. Working with breed rescue they claimed that they get a lot of this as total fabrication and an excuse to get rid of dog. one "home" went through 5 dogs all of which were claimed to have actually bitten the child before the "blacklist this owner" message got around enough to prevent him getting #6. how in the world do rescues deal?
4 AnswersDogs7 years agowhere does this one come from?
one of the favorite cafeteria sports at work is to tell people how bad their food is for them. the new one I'm being hit with is frozen food is bad for you. freezing destroys all the nutrients.
my mom the registered dietion disagrees
but where does this nonsense come from?
2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink8 years agowas this really too old?
I froze a leg and a piece of breast meat from x-mas turkey and just used it in work lunches. This was greeted with horror at work hugh? this after growing up on a farm with home grown butchered meat going a year or more in freezer regularly. Have freezers become less effective?

6 AnswersDogs1 decade agowhy do so many pounds NOT work with breed rescues?
Prompted by a question asking if breeder would rescue their pups rather than clogging pounds with them. But the frustration comes from both sides. their are many many tales of pounds refusing to release a dog under any terms to its breeder, to a formal breed rescue, or an individual fancier attempting a private rescue. this has been so bad that they have put the dogs down in fear that the breed rescue would get them by sending an individual to adopt !!!!???? what gives? you'd think they'd all be on the side of the angels

2 AnswersDogs1 decade agowhere in the world was $50.000 offered for BIS?
a poster here has a rant on signature of how show breeders only want the $50,000 for BIS. I think they are on crack! any show I know of BIS gets a rather big ribbon (with no intrinsic value) name on a trophy they DON"T take home, and maybe something like a silver plated tea set (usually worth maybe $100). certainly that kinda $$ is not frequent enough to aim a breeding program toward , was it even EVER offered?
