I think it was a bit harsh.
I have a facebook, and the only people I actually accept our people THAT I KNOW.
I don't accept anyone else.
I know some, it's just a popularity contest and they don't know half the people on there, but in my case, for example, I have gone to three different schools, and my friends move away and theres alot of people that I don't get a chance to see much anymore, and facebook helps us get together and talk, even from far apart. We can share pictures, message each other, play games, etc all in one website, so it's great.
Also, I go to a big school, where I can see everyone on a daily basis or talk to people that i need too. And not everyone has a cell phone, nor does everyone like talking on the phone. So facebook is a good substitute.
I agree though, that some people have so many fake "friends" on there that they have never nor will they ever meet, but for some it's actually a very important tool to keep in touch.

Depends on your delivery actually. On the face of it, yes, I guess that would have been quite sarcastically harsh like implying that if your friend has a face book, he or she doesn't have any real friends. I could truthfully say that the statement itself isn't generally true, it's a harsh sweeping generalization as HP Fanatic pointed out. Sorry for being a nag, I don't have a facebook either (is it like the old friendster? I honestly don't know but my daughter I think has one. :) Also, depends on how your friend took your remark. If she's not the least offended by it, fine. But if she was, I think that you should value your friendship and not let a remark made without thinking ruin it. Words may sometimes leave a lasting wound if not treated immediately. But as I said, if your friend's okay with what you said, no need to blow this thing out of proportion. (Sorry for being such a "mom" today. LOL)

You weren't harsh, but I could see the friend thinking "wow does this guy think I'm pathetic" now. I would bring it up again and tell them that you're just not into online friend sites but you were joking about the "real friend' part of it.

Harsh and snobbish, especially for someone who considered you worthy of adding(probably?)
Whether you want to add them/not,it would be good to apologize for being harsh,it might make the other feel better(and you too) and just let them know you didn't mean to be harsh!

Maybe u are not so comfortable with internet, so u tend to be defensive when it comes to online stuffs. Your response might hurt ur friend, but you have to realise that people meet real friend online. I have met like 4 people online who has come to be my good friend.

i dont think so but i must say well done that is a great come back if i must say myself lol!!!!!!!! well done. on the same page tho maybe she did take offence to it so probley your best option is to appoligise to your friend and yeah see how it goes from there. or just leave it and see how they act around you next time, hope it goes well c ya

a tad harsh......he might be offended by your comment. maybe next time you see him you should assure him that you didnt mean to hurt his feelings if his feelings are hurt. it seems like nothing huge...just make sure than you ahvent offended him and things will blow over :D
