Set x=.0000001 and just wait a few hundred million years - eventually x will evolve into the correct answer!

bx = 1

c = 1

0 = 1

ax2 + bx + c = 1 + 1 + 1 = 1

x^2+5x+4=0

(x+4)(x+1)=0

x+4=0 or x+1=0

x=-4 or x=-1

{-4, -1}

Use the quadratic formula. A real nerd knows how to solve this very easily, this is intermediate algebra and your IT83 can be a great help.

and to factor, you need to see "ok what factors of c add up to B?"

for example, if it was

"x^2+2x +1=0 "

you can see that "1" has the factors of 1X1.

and 1+1=2.

and you put that into parenthese, like this.

so you write that as (x+1)(x+1)
