Are the carpet cleaning machines you can rent any good?

I have one big stain on my carpeting I need to get out but mostly I'd like to just freshen it up to get rid of any odors (I have two dogs) and keep it nice-looking. Are the machines you can rent at the grocery store easy to use and are the results worth the trouble? I don't have a ton of carpeting, just the living room, dining room and stairs.

I had it done professionally by Coit a year ago when we moved into the house. I thought it was way too expensive to do again though.

If you have two dogs, I think its time to invest in your own machine. I have two Saint Bernard's and can not imagine not having my Hoover spin brush . I found owning I used it more, and did not have the hassle of going and getting it, returning it etc. My spin brush ( hoover ) does just as good a job as the Rug doctor , if not better. It will pay for itself very quickly. Plus you can use it on other floor types.

They are heavy, and they are work. The one I now own is almost as bad, but I don't have to pay to use it, so I do twice a year or so.

They work, and they will freshen your home. you don't actually HAVE to buy their solution, you can use anything that goes in a cleaning machine. I have used Amway, and that stuff that some college kid comes around to sell every so often. But you just never know abou that stain. It depends what it is. I have some spot remover, and it works on some things, and not on others. I have one stain that I'm not even sure what my son spilled. Can't get it up even with the miracle cleaner. I had one that didn't come up until the third or fourth time I cleaned it, then, it suddenly disappeared! It's pretty hit or miss.

Most work fine but check them out before renting. Rented one once that left black marks in the rug that was very hard to get out. Reason being the person before had not cleaned it before returning. Look at brushes to make sure there are no dirt in them. Make sure the unit looks fairly new.

i've got wiped clean carpet for a pair of years in college. i've got employed out a expert employer to scrub my very very own carpet. I firmly have self belief you're able to do a greater efficient activity doing it your self with a condo unit. maximum hardware shops have them - ACO's, actual Values, mom & Pop Hardware shops. additionally, you will discover them at living house Depots, Lowe's, even Kroger, Meijer, Walmart and chains. If all else fails, attempt your community condo employer the place you may lease kit and kit. they are everywhere.

I have never heard any complaints about the "Rug Doctor"

They rent for about $25 daily.
