Let Equality flourish, the chips fall where they may. Agree?

Most people pay lip service to equality until they find out that true equality would put women on an equal par with men in reproduction and the legal system.

Update:

Sam, reproductive equlity is possible in the same way that women are given "paper muscles" to compete in fields where upper body strength is required i.e. police, fire, military.

Update 2:

Rebel,

Reproductive choice for men is NOT about forcing a woman to do anything. It's about men having the same right to choose to not be a parent whether it be a paper abortion or legal abandonment after the child is born. Of course men can't physically get pregnant. It comes down to a woman being responsible for a choice that ONLY women can make. YOUR body, YOUR choice, YOUR responsibility.

Update 3:

Eleanor, no. Once a woman gives birth, ONLY she has the right to legally abandon the child, i.e. she can drop it off at any ER or fire or police station no questions asked. Belief is not part of the equation. What is legal is. If a woman may abandon a child, men should be able to also no matter individual beliefs. If women can pre-empt parenthood through abortion, men should be able get a paper abortion. Same as the li'l girl cop or firefighter who had fitness standards lowered to compensate for lack of upper body strength.

Agreed - a level playing field, and no favour given to any :-)

Edit - I didn't realise you were talking about this exactly - as regards reproductive rights - aren't they equal already? Any pregnant person can have an abortion. Any parent of a child must be responsible for their care unless the child is adopted.

If we were to get into the silly realm of constructing different rights to try and balance out biology - well then, I want to have the right not to be pregnant - a man has the right to have sex and not be pregnant, why can't I have it? Human laws should change to make it my right!

And yes, I know about the military standards and no, I disagree - the fittest men and women should be recruited, and that system ensures that they will be, imo :-)

Sam is correct. Reproductive equality is NOT possible. If men can stop women from having an abortion, or force women to have an abortion, then that is definitely not equality in the least. And, since women are the ones that carry the babies, the closest thing to equality is to let women be the decision-makers when it comes to whether to continue/terminate a pregnancy, since she is ultimately the one who will have to pay the physical consequences.

It isn't a gender issue. It's an issue of who's carrying the baby. If a man could carry a baby, then obviously it would be his choice to abort or continue with the pregnancy.

Other than that, however, I agree.

    ETA:

Oh, well in that case, we're on the same page. I've been in favor of men being able to "financially abort" or "legally abort" for quite some time now. They shouldn't be able to force a woman to have/abort a child, but if the man wants to legally abandon it, he should be able to do so, and then the woman can decide from there (knowing that she won't be getting any support from the man) if she wants to keep the baby or abort it, or give it up for adoption.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Usually, when a man says he wants "reproductive equality", he says that men should be able to stop women from aborting their children, or that men should be able to force women to abort, etc. I don't agree with that at all, but I agree with "financial/legal abortions"

as a results of fact Pakistan and China are sturdy buds, you're able to say its like the U. S. and Israel. in the event that they did, then China could only **** up India. And an India controlled by Pakistan or the folk's Republic is that final element the international needs. fortunately nukes have saved the two in examine, i assume they do serve a objective.
